We are seeking an enthusiastic and industry-experienced Lecturer in Design, Surveying & Planning (DSP) to join our growing T Level Construction provision on a part-time, fixed term basis at Cadbury Sixth Form College.
This is an exciting opportunity to shape the next generation of construction professionals by delivering a cutting-edge curriculum aligned to modern industry practice, sustainability, and digital construction.
Whilst the role is currently a fixed-term contract for 12 months, dependent on student intake and organisational goals, this may be extended or consideration given to a more substantial post at a later point of the academic year.
About the Role
As a Lecturer in T Level Design, Surveying & Planning, you will deliver a high-quality, industry-relevant curriculum that prepares students for skilled employment or progression to higher-level study within the construction and built environment sector.
You will teach the core components of the DSP specification, embedding sustainability, digital engineering, and professional skills throughout. The role includes supporting learners through the Employer Set Project (ESP), occupational specialisms, and industry placements, working closely with employers and professional bodies.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging and high-quality teaching across the DSP T Level specification
- Teach building technology, construction science, and digital engineering principles, including structural mechanics, building physics, and geotechnics
- Support learners to apply mathematical and scientific concepts to real-world construction scenarios
- Lead delivery of the Employer Set Project (ESP), coaching students through research, design development, and professional presentations
- Embed sustainability, net-zero principles, and modern methods of construction into all curriculum areas
- Teach industry context including the RIBA Plan of Work, statutory regulations, and planning processes
- Develop students’ professional skills, including stakeholder engagement, collaboration, and conflict resolution
- Design, assess, and internally quality assure assignments aligned to national T Level standards
- Track student progress and provide high-quality formative feedback
- Support learners undertaking their 315-hour minimum industry placements
- Maintain accurate academic and administrative records
- Actively contribute to curriculum development and continuous improvement
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Essential
- Degree (Level 6) in a relevant discipline (e.g. Civil Engineering, Architecture, Quantity Surveying, Building Surveying or similar)
- Minimum 3–5 years’ recent industry experience in design, surveying, or planning
- Strong understanding of modern methods of construction, sustainability, and net-zero principles
- Experience working with UK building regulations, health & safety legislation, and planning processes
- Ability to teach complex technical, mathematical, and scientific concepts to 16–19 learners
- Proficiency in industry-standard software such as BIM and CAD (AutoCAD preferred)
- Understanding of safeguarding, Prevent, and Equality, Diversity & Inclusion
- Willingness to achieve a recognised teaching qualification (if not already held)
Desirable
- Professional membership of a chartered body (e.g. RICS, CIOB, ICE, RIBA
- Teaching qualification (PGCE, CertEd, QTLS or equivalent)
- Experience delivering T Levels, BTEC, or similar Level 3 qualifications
- Experience working with RIBA Plan of Work stages or NEC/JCT contracts
- Ability to leverage professional networks to support industry placements and enrichment
Teaching Qualifications & Salary Banding
To be eligible for our Qualified Lecturer salary banding (£31,837 - £48,160), you must hold one of the following teaching qualifications:

- Certificate in Education
- PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education)
- ProfGCE (Professional Graduate Certificate in Education)
- DET (Diploma in Education and Training)
- DiT (Diploma in Teaching) – if for a vocational subject
If you do not hold one of the above qualifications, you will fall into our Unqualified Lecturer salary banding (£26,661 - £29,998).
