About the Role
Intermedia is looking for a Core Systems Administrator – L1 to join our Operations team.
In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining and supporting core infrastructure systems with a strong focus on operational stability, patching, and storage maintenance. The position supports a 24x7 production environment and includes regularly scheduled weekend work, with close coordination across global teams to ensure seamless coverage.
This is a remote position.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer, monitor, and support enterprise infrastructure systems
- Support and maintain enterprise storage platforms (e.g., NetApp, Pure, EMC)
- Perform operating system, application, and infrastructure patching (Windows, Linux, ESXi, storage systems)
- Remediate vulnerabilities, resolve failed patches, and provide status reporting
- Execute scheduled weekend maintenance and operational tasks
- Monitor systems and respond to alerts and incidents during assigned coverage periods
- Coordinate handoffs between weekend and weekday support teams
- Work with vendors to troubleshoot and resolve hardware and platform issues
- Assist with capacity planning and resource utilization
- Maintain and update operational documentation and procedures
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience administering Windows Server and/or Linux systems
- Experience with virtualization platforms (VMware and/or Hyper-V)
- Experience supporting production infrastructure environments
- Ability to follow structured operational procedures and maintenance schedules
- Strong troubleshooting, communication, and collaboration skills
- Ability to work independently and reliably during off-hours and weekends
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with enterprise storage platforms (NetApp, Pure, EMC, etc.)
- Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Grafana or Zabbix
- Basic scripting or automation experience (PowerShell or Ansible)
- ITIL Foundation knowledge
- Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure
