About the Role

Intermedia is looking for a Core Systems Automation Engineer – L1 to join our Platform & Operations team.

In this role, you will design, implement, and maintain automation-driven infrastructure solutions in a highly available production environment. The position focuses on improving operational efficiency, reliability, and observability through scripting, automation, and modern infrastructure practices.

This is a remote position supporting a global environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain automation solutions for infrastructure and operations
  • Create, modify, and maintain scripts using PowerShell (required), Python, and Ansible
  • Apply Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles to system configuration and deployment
  • Maintain and enhance monitoring and alerting platforms (Grafana, Zabbix)
  • Integrate systems using APIs (REST, JSON, YAML)
  • Support virtualization platforms including VMware and Hyper-V
  • Troubleshoot complex system, performance, and automation issues in production environments
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on infrastructure projects and platform improvements
  • Maintain source control using Git and contribute to CI/CD pipelines where applicable
  • Document systems, processes, and automation workflows

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong experience with Linux and Windows Server administration
  • Hands-on experience with automation and scripting (PowerShell required; Python or Ansible preferred)
  • Experience with virtualization platforms (VMware and/or Hyper-V)
  • Experience supporting production infrastructure environments
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with AWX, Kubernetes, or Docker
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitLab CI)
  • Experience with advanced monitoring platforms (VictoriaMetrics, Telegraf)
  • Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure
