About the Role
Intermedia is looking for a Core Systems Automation Engineer – L1 to join our Platform & Operations team.
In this role, you will design, implement, and maintain automation-driven infrastructure solutions in a highly available production environment. The position focuses on improving operational efficiency, reliability, and observability through scripting, automation, and modern infrastructure practices.
This is a remote position supporting a global environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain automation solutions for infrastructure and operations
- Create, modify, and maintain scripts using PowerShell (required), Python, and Ansible
- Apply Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles to system configuration and deployment
- Maintain and enhance monitoring and alerting platforms (Grafana, Zabbix)
- Integrate systems using APIs (REST, JSON, YAML)
- Support virtualization platforms including VMware and Hyper-V
- Troubleshoot complex system, performance, and automation issues in production environments
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on infrastructure projects and platform improvements
- Maintain source control using Git and contribute to CI/CD pipelines where applicable
- Document systems, processes, and automation workflows
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Strong experience with Linux and Windows Server administration
- Hands-on experience with automation and scripting (PowerShell required; Python or Ansible preferred)
- Experience with virtualization platforms (VMware and/or Hyper-V)
- Experience supporting production infrastructure environments
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with AWX, Kubernetes, or Docker
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitLab CI)
- Experience with advanced monitoring platforms (VictoriaMetrics, Telegraf)
- Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure
