About the opportunity
We are seeking a motivated Apprentice Quantity Surveyor for an immediate start. The ideal candidate will be working towards a Level 4–6 qualification (HNC/HND/Degree Apprenticeship) in Quantity Surveying at an accredited institution and eager to develop a career in construction cost management.
You’ll be joining Soben at an exciting time, playing a key role in helping us achieve our ambitious growth targets. Supporting one of our key Construction clients in the region, you will gain hands-on experience while assisting in the development and implementation of key procurement and commercial strategies across a range of projects in our business.

What you'll do
- Assist in preparing costed Estimates/Cost Plans for review, including benchmarking
- Support the development of Value Engineering and Life Cycle Costing options
- Help identify potential risks and assist in preparing and maintaining the Risk Register
- Contribute to meetings during the Pre-Contract Process
- Assist in the preparation of Procurement Strategies and Reports
- Attend Client meetings alongside senior colleagues and record relevant discussion points and actions
- Attend Design Team meetings, capture potential cost implications, and assist in implementing agreed actions
- Support lease negotiations and validation of tenant improvement allowances
- Assist in developing and maintaining project templates
- Maintain change order logs, invoice logs, and support cost reporting
- Assist with measurements and research pricing for Development Appraisals
- Support drafting and reviewing Pre-Qualification Questionnaires (PQQs)
- Review and tabulate PQQ responses under supervision
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support the commercial team
About you
- Currently undertaking (or enrolled to start) a Quantity Surveying Apprenticeship (HNC/HND/Degree level)
- Strong interest in construction, cost management, and commercial processes
- Basic understanding of construction methods and industry practices (desirable)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word & PowerPoint)
- Willingness to learn and develop technical knowledge, including sustainability and emerging construction trends
- Strong attention to detail and good organisational skills
- A team player with clear verbal and written communication skills
- Proactive, motivated, and eager to take initiative
- Any site or construction experience is advantageous but not essential
