Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Pattern Shop Production Leader to oversee the day-to-day manufacturing operations within our Pattern Shop. This is a key leadership role responsible for ensuring high-quality components are produced efficiently while meeting demanding delivery schedules in a fast-paced motorsport environment. You will manage production schedules, coordinate workloads across the department, and work closely with design, CNC programming, machining teams, and production control to ensure seamless delivery of composite machined components, composite inserts, tooling block and Rohacell components. This role plays an important part in driving continuous improvement, efficiency, and manufacturing excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily Pattern Shop production activities to ensure delivery targets and quality standards are met.
  • Manage departmental capacity, workloads, and the master production schedule.
  • Control and monitor the manufacture of composite machined components, composite inserts, tooling block and Rohacell components.
  • Work closely with Production Control and Planning teams to provide accurate capacity and capability updates.
  • Provide feedback on production timings to improve planning and scheduling accuracy.
  • Act as a key interface between the Pattern Shop and Design Office to support design for manufacture improvements.
  • Support production engineering for composite, tooling block, and Rohacell components.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance machining processes and efficiency.
  • Maintain departmental quality standards, including analysis and resolution of NCRs and scrap.
  • Assist with raw material stock control and off-site storage logistics.
  • Support performance reviews and appraisals alongside the Pattern Shop Manager.
  • Deputise for the Pattern Shop Manager when required.
  • Participate actively in meetings and cross-department collaboration.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Strong understanding of Composite Machining, Pattern Shop processes, CNC programming, and machining techniques.
  • Experience managing production schedules, workloads, and departmental capacity.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and work to tight machining tolerances.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop team members.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making ability in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work across multiple departments.
  • Highly organised and proactive, with strong time management skills.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure while delivering results to demanding timescales.
  • Flexible approach to working hours in line with manufacturing and car build demands.
