The Project Manager is responsible for managing awarded tapping projects from internal handoff through closeout, ensuring safe execution, schedule performance, documentation accuracy, and financial outcomes.
This role is accountable for maintaining and strengthening client relationships through consistent communication, responsiveness, and reliable delivery. It includes business development support through relationship stewardship, opportunity identification, and collaboration with estimating/sales on repeat work and expansion opportunities.

This role is accountable for maintaining and strengthening client relationships through consistent communication, responsiveness, and reliable delivery. Key Responsibilities
Project Execution and Financial Performance
• Manage assigned projects from award through completion, including scope review, planning, execution oversight, and closeout.
• Review contract documents, scope, exclusions, assumptions, schedule requirements, and internal budget setup prior to mobilization.
• Lead internal kickoff meetings to align Operations, Project Coordination, Safety, and Accounting on job requirements.
• Monitor job cost performance, labor productivity, equipment utilization, subcontractor/vendor coordination, and material readiness.
• Identify project risks early and drive mitigation plans in coordination with the Operations Manager.
• Participate in WIP reviews and provide timely, accurate forecasting, cost-to-complete updates, and status reporting.
• Lead change management: identify scope changes, document impacts, support pricing/backup documentation, and drive timely submission and resolution of change orders (in coordination with leadership as required).
• Support billing readiness by ensuring required documentation is complete, accurate, and timely.

• Serve as the primary point of contact for clients and stakeholders (e.g., municipalities, public works, water/wastewater agencies, engineers, general contractors) throughout execution.
• Establish and maintain a consistent communication cadence with clients, including status updates, schedule coordination, and issue resolution.
• Conduct client kickoff meetings, progress check-ins, and post-job debriefs to reinforce confidence, confirm satisfaction, and capture lessons learned.
• Proactively manage client concerns, respond promptly, and coordinate internal resources to resolve issues while protecting safety, schedule, and margin.
• Build trusted working relationships that support long-term account retention and repeat work.
• Identify potential future work opportunities (e.g., upcoming projects, system needs, expansions, emergency response planning, master service needs) through ongoing client interactions and communicate qualified opportunities to Sales/Estimating leadership.
• Support relationship-based growth activities such as coordinating job walks, pre-scope conversations, and client education sessions (e.g., “lunch-and-learn” style support) in partnership with Sales/Leadership.
• Maintain accurate client interaction notes and opportunity visibility in company systems/tools as applicable.
• Support growth by delivering an excellent client experience, strengthening relationships, and ensuring internal handoffs of identified opportunities.
Coordination with Operations and Project Coordination
• Partner with the Operations Manager to coordinate schedules, crew needs, equipment planning, and execution sequencing.
• Coordinate with Project Coordinators to ensure job setup, permits/submittals (as applicable), documentation, and records management align with project requirements.
• Ensure internal documentation standards are followed (daily reports, photos, field notes, change documentation, client correspondence, closeout records).
• Provide clear direction and priorities to Project Coordinators on project-specific administrative tasks (without direct personnel management unless assigned).
Safety, Compliance, and Quality Support
• Reinforce safety expectations by coordinating with Safety leadership and Operations to ensure compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
• Support incident/near-miss communication, documentation, and follow-up actions when required.
• Promote quality execution by ensuring scope clarity, documentation discipline, and timely resolution of field/client issues.
• Perform other duties as assigned or as described.
Supervisory Responsibilities
• This position does not directly supervise field technicians.
• May provide functional direction to Project Coordinators on assigned project deliverables.
Required Qualifications
• Minimum five (5) years of relevant experience in construction project management, specialty subcontracting project delivery, utilities-related operations coordination, or similar.
• Demonstrated experience managing client communication and expectations in a project execution environment.
• Working knowledge of job costing, change management, and documentation practices.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate professionally with clients, field leadership, and internal teams.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) and the ability to learn company-specific systems.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to jobsites and client locations.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience supporting municipal/agency clients, water/wastewater stakeholders, or regulated jobsite environments.
• Familiarity with project management tools/software (ERP, CRM, scheduling, document management).
• Prior experience supporting contract reviews, billing documentation, and/or estimating coordination.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a dynamic operations environment.
• Ability to exercise independent judgment and make sound decisions under pressure.

Work Environment
• Combination of office/remote administrative work and active jobsite/client site visits.
• Jobsite environments may include uneven terrain, changing weather conditions, noise, dust, and proximity to heavy equipment and ongoing construction activities.
• Required to follow all company safety policies and wear required PPE when visiting jobsites.
