We are seeking Combat Systems (C4I) Engineers to join or Maritime Design & Engineering team. The Maritime Design and Engineering team draws on the combined strength of BMT and AMT, bringing together more than 40 years of experience across Naval Architecture, Mechanical, Electrical, and Combat Systems/C4I Engineering to meet growing industry demand.

Work on a range of combat, communications, weapons and sensor systems integration projects, in support of a wide range of Australian maritime programs for both new construction (such as the current RAN surface ship programs) and for sustaining and upgrading ships of the RAN Fleet.  

Key Responsibilities

In this role you will:
  • Perform specialist design and engineering in the integration of combat, communications, weapons and sensor systems within the BMT C4I Department;
  • Provide C4I engineering support and guidance within whole of ship teams involving all BMT technical disciplines;
  • Undertake engineering projects involving C4I integration, from engineering investigations, through design concepts and OEM interaction, all the way through preliminary and detail design to production implementation and customer acceptance; and
  • Represent BMT on a professional and technical basis with our ADF/Navy clients, with our customers within the defence Industry and with the broader OEM and system supplier community.

About you

To be successful in this role, you should have:
  • A relevant Engineering degree (such as Computer Systems, Electronics or Communications);
  • Excellent written communication and interpersonal abilities, including building and maintaining positive relationships with our staff and customers; 
  • Well-developed problem diagnosis and solving skills; 
  • Effective time management skills and strong attention to detail; and
  • The motivation and drive to develop your technical capabilities within a highly supportive, multi-discipline specialist naval engineering environment. 
  • Australian Citizenship
  • Australian Defence clearance or have the eligibility to gain a defence clearance.
