Senior Consultant - Nature

Job Overview

We are currently seeking an enthusiastic consultant with strengths in ecology, conservation climate and nature policy, GIS, and/or land-based GHG accounting to join our Nature team. This is an opportunity to join a highly experienced, leading-edge team of experts across all aspects of land conservation and sustainability. The position is based in the Philippines.

Key Responsibilities

Project Management & Delivery  
  • Support the implementation of nature-based ACCU Scheme and international carbon abatement projects, including opportunity and due diligence assessments and offsetting advisory and project development. Types of projects assessed include savanna fire management, human-induced regeneration, environmental planting, blue carbon, plantation forestry, and soil carbon projects
  • Co-benefit identification and evaluation under relevant nature frameworks and Schemes
  • Undertake field work and analysis to assist project advisory and due diligence
  • Undertake GIS analysis as well as risk and opportunity assessments to support nature and/or climate risk assessments
  • Prepare greenhouse gas (GHG) accounts, trajectories, and net zero emissions pathways, to support the land-based GHG inventory component and science-based emission reduction targets in the Forestry, Land use and Agriculture sector.

Training and Development
  • Provide training and mentorship to new and/or junior consultants, ensuring they develop the necessary expertise to contribute effectively to the team.
  • Continuously enhance personal expertise in Nature and other climate-related topics to support ongoing professional development and team knowledge growth.

Continuous Improvement
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement within Nature reporting, contributing to the enhancement of operational efficiency and accuracy.
  • Collaborate with the team to refine and optimize data processing techniques, ensuring the highest standards of accuracy and efficiency in Nature reporting.

Stakeholder Management
  • Effectively communicate complex Nature concepts to both technical and non technical stakeholders, ensuring clarity and understanding across all levels of the organization.
  • Support client engagements by providing clear, accurate, and actionable insights related to Nature.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

  • A relevant environmental engineering, management, ecology or environmental science degree
  • With at least 3 years of previous experience and/or demonstrated knowledge of the ACCU Scheme and/or other nature/environmental credit schemes will be highly regarded
  • Previous experience in interpreting and reviewing environmental policy and/or legislation will be well regarded 
  • GIS, land and/or climate risk assessment skills 
  • Land-based GHG accounting skills and experience will be highly regarded
  • Monitoring, verification and sampling skills
  • Experience working in the field and remote locations
  • Strong data analysis, statistics and interpretation skills, including advanced MS Excel skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team, including client engagement
  • Eagerness to learn, grow, and challenge yourself
  • Ability to travel for work.
