Job Overview

Our aim at Made Tech is to use human-centred technology to improve our society. We believe putting people at the heart of designing, building and delivering public services leads to better outcomes for everyone.

The Group Communication Lead will act as the coordinator of messaging and narrative across Made Tech Group. As we evolve from a predominantly professional services business into a diverse Group with software products and new acquisitions, this role exists to unify our narrative. You will ensure that our internal culture, our strategic change programs, and our external corporate reputation speak with an aligned voice - helping drive understanding and engagement through an ongoing period of change and growth.

Key success measures - Expected outcomes from the Role
  • Strategic Alignment: Our people, across all business units, understand not just what we are doing, but why, and feel connected to the Group’s long-term vision. They are clear on organisational priorities and how they can contribute to them.
  • Seamless Integration: New acquisitions and product teams are integrated into the MT group and strategy quickly and empathetically through clear communication.
  • Reputation Excellence: The Annual Report and key corporate moments are delivered on time, on budget, and tell a compelling story to our investors.
  • Trust: Leadership communication is seen as authentic, timely, and transparent, maintaining high trust levels during periods of change.

Key Responsibilities

1. Internal Communications
  • Translate Strategy: Work with the Director of Strategic Change and Transformation to build a clear, compelling narrative around our company roadmap; key change initiatives; and our overall strategy. You will help with a compelling and engaging answer to the "What does this mean for me?" question for our employees.
  • Own the Channels: Manage the rhythm, content and delivery of our core internal comms channels and meetings (Quarterly Town Halls, Monthly Company Updates, Slack announcements, and other asynchronous comms like Newsletters).
  • Feedback Loops: Act as the "ear to the ground," gathering employee sentiment to help leadership understand how messages are landing.

2. Corporate Communications
  • Annual Report "Producer": Project manage the end-to-end production of the Group Annual Report and Interim Results. You own the timeline, coordinate the content contributors (CEO/CFO), and manage the external design/PR agencies.
  • Manage and update our Investor website: ensuring key regulatory announcements, trading updates and people changes are updated.
  • Investor Narrative: Support the preparation for AGMs and investor presentations, ensuring the story we tell the market matches the reality inside the business.
  • News & PR: Own and deliver the company’s corporate PR and social media activity, working closely with the CEO/Exec and marketing teams to shape and share clear, timely corporate news that strengthens our external profile and reputation.

3. Strategic Change Management
  • Leading integration comms: When we buy a business or launch a new division, you lead the communications plan. You ensure all businesses within the Group have a light touch alignment across comms;  ensure "Day 1" announcements, and ongoing communication helps with successful transition and engagement/integration.
  • Change Campaigns: Run specific communication campaigns for internal change initiatives (e.g., new systems rollouts, organisational restructuring).

4. Brand Alignment (Marketing Collaboration)
  • Content review: Act as the guardian of the corporate narrative. You will review high-stakes external content (e.g., CEO opinion pieces, strategic press releases) to ensure it aligns with internal messaging.
  • Collaboration: Partner with the Marketing team to share assets and stories, ensuring that the "Brand" and the "Culture" remain consistent.

How the role is supported

  • Executive Access: You will have direct access to the C-suite (CEO, CFO, MD) to gather insights and approve narratives.
  • Cross-Functional Team: While you sit in Strategic Change, you will work in a "dotted line" capacity with the People team (for people data/policies) and Marketing (for brand assets/distribution).
  • Agency Support: Although the role will primarily execute on our comms needs itself, you will have access to external design and PR agencies for key external-facing deliverables (like the Annual Report) and crisis support.

Skills, knowledge and expertise

  • A "Doer-Strategist": You are happy to write the plan and develop key messaging positions, but you are equally happy to write the email, set up the Meets call, and proofread the deck. You don't need a team to be effective.
  • Commercially Astute: You understand how a professional services business makes money, the difference between a service and a product, and you can explain financial concepts to non-financial employees.
  • Calm in the Chaos: Change and Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) can be messy. You are the person who brings clarity and structure when things are moving fast.

What you bring:
  • Experience in Change or M&A: You have a track record of communicating through business transformation, acquisitions, or significant organisational growth.
  • Project Management pragmatism: You have successfully delivered complex, deadline-driven corporate projects (such as Annual Reports, whitepapers, or rebrands).
  • Stakeholder Management: You have the confidence to advise senior leaders on how to communicate, and the courage to push back when a message isn't clear enough.
  • Writing Excellence: You can capture different tones of voice, from the formal corporate statement to the empathetic internal update.
