Are you a seasoned electrical professional who enjoys teaching, mentoring, and sharing real-world expertise? Join our E-Apprenticeship Program as a Remote Instructor and help prepare apprentices for successful careers in the electrical industry—all from a virtual classroom.
This role is ideal for experienced Journeymen or Master Electricians who want to stay connected to the trade while making a lasting impact through education. You’ll deliver engaging, interactive instruction with an emphasis on Commercial and Residential Electrical Work, Motor Controls, and PLCs, while supporting apprentices enrolled in a U.S. Department of Labor–approved apprenticeship program.
What You’ll Do
As a Remote E-Apprenticeship Instructor, you will:
- Deliver engaging, high-quality remote instruction using approved curriculum
- Prepare and review weekly lessons, labs, and assessments
- Use modern instructional tools such as Zoom, PowerPoint, video demonstrations, and digital media
- “Show and tell” electrical components and systems remotely
- Motivate apprentices and foster a positive, disciplined virtual learning environment
- Assign homework and readings aligned with Department of Labor standards
- Track and record attendance in compliance with program policies
- Coach apprentices through performance challenges, absences, and academic concerns
- Participate in instructor meetings and collaborate with fellow educators
- Communicate required documentation to the partner Community College
- Serve as a liaison between apprentices and IEC, reinforcing the merit shop philosophy
- Identify curriculum gaps or discrepancies and provide written feedback to leadership
- Notify the training office in advance when absences require substitute coverage
Key Responsibilities
- We’re looking for professionals who combine technical expertise, instructional ability, and strong communication skills.
Required Qualifications:- Completion of a state- or federally-approved electrical apprenticeship program
- Current Journeyman or Master Electrician License
- Experience as a Journeyman, Electrical Foreman, Inspector, Supervisor, or similar role
- Strong working knowledge of:
- NEC and code compliance
- Electrical theory, AC/DC systems, electronics, and mathematics
- Motor controls and PLCs (minimum 5 years hands-on experience)
- Electrical construction site wiring and systems
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote environment
- Professional judgment, strong ethics, and a student-centered mindset
- Spanish language skills are a plus
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Technology Skills
- Strong computer literacy, including MS Word and PowerPoint
- Experience with remote instruction platforms (Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, or similar)
- Willingness to learn and support the E-Apprenticeship remote learning system and updates
Licenses & Certifications
- Must maintain a valid Journeyman or Master Electrician License
