About the role:
As a Trainee Appraiser, you’ll learn how to assess and appraise a wide variety of vintage and antique items, from jewellery, watches, and medals to toys, cameras, and collectables.
You’ll work independently day-to-day but with the full support of your Team Leader and in collaboration with category specialists. Every box you open is different, and you’ll be constantly learning as new and unusual items arrive.
This role is hands-on, dynamic, and rewarding, perfect for someone with a sharp eye for detail, a love of learning, and an enthusiasm for vintage treasures.

Getting Started...
- Learn the foundations of appraising across multiple categories.
- Engage with training provided by specialists and your Team Leader.
- Appraise up to 23–25 customer boxes daily by the end of your first 3 months.
Establishing Your Impact…
- Grow your knowledge of categories such as gold, silver, jewellery, watches, toys, and more.
- Build confidence in making accurate, independent appraisal decisions.
- Maintain a minimum of 95% quality control accuracy.
- Contribute ideas to improve processes and team performance.
Driving Excellence…
- Consistently appraise 25–30 boxes per day with strong accuracy.
- Collaborate across teams to support smooth workflows.
- Take ownership of your learning and professional growth.
- Become an integral part of the wider Appraisals team.

- Maintain 95%+ quality control accuracy, supported by regular audits.
- Keep acceptance rate in line with departmental KPIs.
- Collaborate with Team Leaders, specialists, and colleagues to support continuous improvement.

- Complete data entry with precision and reliability.
- Keep the work environment tidy, organised, and safe.

- Competent in basic IT systems.
- Physically able to lift boxes up to 25kg.
- Prior experience in jewellery, antiques, or similar industries is a plus but not essential.
