Why does this role exist?
To expand design capacity and accelerate speed-to-floor across pet toys, apparel, bedding, and throws, the company is hiring a designer who can translate trend and licensing direction into production-ready textile, product, and packaging assets. This role connects creative concepting with manufacturability, ensuring all designs meet retailer and licensor standards while hitting timelines and cost targets.
The Impact you’ll make
Textile Design
- Create original, repeatable patterns, prints, and colorways tailored to pet products.
- Build spec-ready artwork with color separations, repeat setups, print placements, and Pantone callouts.
- Maintain seasonal trend boards, palettes, and libraries grounded in market and competitive research.
Product Design & Development
- Design and iterate pet toys, apparel, beds, and throws from concept to vendor handoff.
- Produce detailed CADs/tech packs with materials, trims, construction, dimensions, and tolerances.
- Partner with sourcing/vendors to validate feasibility, cost, testing, and quality requirements.
Packaging & Merchandising
- Design packaging, hangtags, labels, PDQs, and shippers per retailer and licensor standards.
- Build dielines and production-ready files; manage copy, legal marks, and UPCs.
- Coordinate mockups and prepress approvals to ensure on-time, accurate execution.
Licensing & Brand Stewardship
- Interpret licensing style guides into compliant product and packaging executions.
- Route submissions for approvals; track revisions and maintain version control.
- Safeguard brand integrity and regulatory/safety compliance in all deliverables.
Cross-functional Project Management
- Work to an EST schedule; manage multiple briefs, milestones, and stakeholder feedback.
- Communicate status and maintain trackers using Outlook and Excel.
- Troubleshoot artwork/packaging issues with PD, Sales, QA, and vendor partners.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Required:
- 3+ years in textile design with demonstrable product and packaging design experience.
- Portfolio showing repeat pattern development and product design in pet or closely related consumer goods.
- Hands-on licensing experience, including working with style guides and approval workflows.
- Advanced proficiency across Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign; ability to work with other Adobe programs as needed) plus Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Proven experience preparing production-ready files: tech packs, dielines, color separations, and print specs.
WFH Set-Up:
- Computer with at least 8GB RAM, an Intel i5 core processor/AMD Ryzen 5 Processor and up.
- Internet speed of at least 40MBPS
- Headset with an extended mic that has noise cancellation and a webcam
- Back-up computer and internet connection
- Quiet, dedicated workspace at home
