Senior Product Designer, Design Systems

As a Senior Product Designer, you will:

• Maintain and Evolve the Design System: Lead the design side of our design system, ensuring it reflects our design language and principles, meets product and engineering needs, and scales with our platform's growth.
• Configure and implement AI: Facilitate the use of AI in FE development and design ideation, strengthening the pipeline from AI-generated code to production front-end code, and enabling the use of AI tools such as Claude and v0. You’ll also use AI to contribute to the development and evolution of DS/appkit components.
• Enable FE development: Structure and optimize the design system with a deep understanding of our FE development framework and component library, to ensure parity as the libraries evolve.
• Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Partner with the design team, front-end developers, and the App Platform Team to align on component needs, design standards, and implementation best practices.
• Hands-On Design Work: Spend 80% of your time actively improving the component library, refining our AI systems, workflows, and documentation, creating and refining reusable components, and documenting guidelines for component usage and design language.
• Strategic Input: Spend 20% of your time focusing on long-term strategy for the design system and AgencyAnalytics web platform, including governance suggestions, identifying areas for improvement, and evolving our design language to meet the needs of the business.
• Documentation & Governance: Develop and maintain thorough documentation for the design system, optimized for human and AI consumers, providing clear guidelines for its use across design and development teams. Lead the development of governance processes for component updates and changes.
• Training & Communication: Take the lead in training and mentoring other designers and engineers on the design system, ensuring its consistent application across the platform. Proactively communicate updates and best practices.
• Front-End Development Collaboration: While not expected to code, work closely with developers to understand technical constraints, provide design input, and ensure high-quality implementation of design components.
• Continuous Improvement: Auditing and refining interaction patterns or redesigning system-wide UX elements (e.g., notifications and error messages).

What You'll Bring

• Experience: 6+ years of experience in product design, with a strong focus on design systems and front-end development collaboration.
• AI experience: Hands-on experience configuring, implementing, and using AI in service of DS evolution. Experience facilitating others’ use of AI through integration between our DS and AI tools (such as Claude, v0, and Figma Make).
• CSS and FE framework fluency: Conversant in FE code development frameworks (particularly Tailwind). Worked with off-the-shelf libraries like ShadCN, and maintained parity as bespoke components evolved.
• Front-End Knowledge: Familiarity with front-end development processes and constraints (e.g., CSS, flexbox, spacing, padding/margin), ensuring seamless collaboration with developers.
• Interaction/UI Design Expertise: A strong understanding of common patterns, best practices, and trade-offs in interaction design and UI design, to ensure that our design language and DS deliver exceptional user experience through excellent usability.
• Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to articulate complex ideas to diverse stakeholders and lead training sessions for team members.
• Design Systems Expertise: Proven experience leading or heavily contributing to the evolution of design systems in a fast-paced, product-driven environment.
• Systems Thinking: Strong ability to think in systems and develop scalable solutions that balance business goals with user needs.
• Collaboration: Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, with experience working closely with engineers and other designers.
• Initiative & Ownership: Proactive and self-directed, with the ability to take ownership of large projects and deliver impactful results.
• Attention to Detail: Keen attention to design details and a passion for crafting polished, user-friendly interfaces.
• Tool expertise: Advanced knowledge of Figma, Claude, v0, Figma Make, CLI (e.g. Terminal), design MCP servers, and Storybook.
