What Will You Be Doing?

  • Lead, mentor, and support the café team, creating a positive, collaborative, and high-performing work environment.
  • Manage inventory levels and ordering of food and supplies, ensuring cost-effective and sustainable purchasing practices.
  • Create and evolve menus that are nutritious, diverse, and appealing to a broad audience, with thoughtful attention to dietary needs and special requests.
  • Partner with the café team to plan and execute daily breakfast and lunch service, including à la carte offerings, batch cooking, and in-house baking.
  • Oversee the planning and delivery of small and large catering events, from menu development and bulk production to presentation and service coordination.
  • Maintain strong control over food and labor costs through smart planning, portion management, and operational discipline.
  • Ensure food quality, consistency, and proper portioning to deliver an exceptional dining experience.
  • Stay hands-on in food preparation and service, leading by example and setting the standard for culinary excellence.
  • Train and coach team members on culinary techniques, food safety, sanitation, and best practices.
  • Keep all kitchen and service areas clean, organized, and fully compliant with health and safety standards.
  • Build strong partnerships with vendors to support quality ingredients, competitive pricing, and reliable service.
  • Respond to customer feedback and inquiries promptly, always striving to enhance the overall experience.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise:

  • 3+ years of experience in a culinary leadership role, with strong hands-on involvement in daily food service operations and team oversight.
  • A natural leader with the ability to motivate, inspire, and develop a high-performing team.
  • Solid understanding of food cost control, menu pricing, and inventory management best practices.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety regulations, supported by current certification, along with a deep understanding of sanitation standards and industry best practices.
  • Advanced culinary skills, with the versatility to prepare a wide variety of dishes using different techniques and styles.
  • Highly organized with strong time-management skills and the ability to juggle multiple priorities effectively.
  • Clear and professional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Confident problem-solver who can make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office and Point-of-Sale systems, as well as digital tools for communication and promotions.
  • Flexible and willing to work after hours when needed to support events or operational requirements.
