Why Confluence?

At Confluence, we’ve always been driven by a commitment to innovation, precision, and partnership in the investment data space. Our global footprint now spans multiple countries, giving our employees the opportunity to get exposure to other countries and cultures. And it stands to reason that none of this would have been possible without the hundreds of hard-working employees who work at Confluence.

Key Responsibilities

We’re building and modernizing the data foundation behind a market‑leading investment performance analytics platform used by large enterprise financial institutions. As a Database Developer, you’ll play a critical, hands‑on role in designing and optimizing high‑performance SQL solutions that power complex investment analytics at scale

This is not a traditional DBA role — it’s a deep, problem‑solving development role where your work directly impacts how global clients measure and understand investment performance.

What you’ll do

  • Design, build, and optimize SQL Server stored procedures and complex queries that support large‑scale investment performance calculations
  • Map and transform data from custodial and investment data sources into structured, analytics‑ready data models
  • Diagnose and resolve performance bottlenecks across very large datasets (millions to billions of records)
  • Partner closely with application and UI engineers whose reports and dashboards rely on your database outputs
  • Collaborate with onshore engineers and an offshore development team to deliver scalable, enterprise‑grade solutions
  • Contribute to platform modernization initiatives for new large enterprise client programs
You’ll join a highly experienced engineering team working on complex, meaningful problems at the intersection of data, finance, and analytics.

  • Expert‑level Microsoft SQL Server experience (non‑negotiable)
  • Strong hands‑on experience writing and tuning complex SQL and T‑SQL
  • Proven background in SQL Server performance optimization and troubleshooting
  • Experience building database logic for analytics and reporting environments (not infrastructure or admin‑focused roles)

  • Solid understanding of core investment concepts such as:
    • Equity vs. fixed income
    • Benchmarks and returns
    • Custodial data and financial data structures
  • Ability to sense‑check and validate what “reasonable” performance outcomes should look like
