LOCATION:  Full-time, onsite in the WMA

Join our team as a Software Developer (Systems Software) and help create the underlying software that powers critical operations. You’ll develop, maintain, and refine system-level programs, ensuring they run efficiently, securely, and reliably across complex environments. Working closely with engineers across disciplines, you’ll solve challenging technical problems, optimize performance, and deliver the robust software foundation that keeps our technology mission-ready.

Key Responsibilities

In this challenging yet rewarding role, you are an integral part of what brings our Company's mission to life. You must have the following required skills, certifications and demonstrated experience in and/or with:
  • Strong knowledge of Geospatial Information Systems (GIS) applications and services.
  • Developing mobile applications targeted for Android/iOS devices.
  • Working with small teams to manage software development activities.
  • Working with customers to define functional requirements, concept of operations, and UI/UX design.
  • Managing iterative software development releases. 
  • Tracking development sprints using JIRA.
  • Managing source code in GitHub and GitLab.
  • Managing CI/CD pipelines and automating build and deployment lifecycles.
  • Containerization and orchestration with experience building, deploying, and managing scalable Docker images across production environments.
  • Developing test plans.
  • Providing technical support and training.
  • Software engineering and development.
  • Visual Studio Code, Android Studio, Xcode, Nodejs, and JavaScript.
OTHER
  • Develops mobile applications and is proficient with both Android and iOS app development.
  • Works with customers to translate operational needs into technical requirements.
  • Tracks program progress, risks, issues, and dependencies. 
  • Serves as a geospatial technology and mobile Subject Matter Expert.
  • Supports technical meetings with vendors to communicate program and mission requirements. 
  • Provides technical advice and direction based on practical knowledge of mobile phone hardware, mobile operating systems (Android/iOS), software (commercial, FOSS (Free Open Source
  • Software), and GOTS (Gov’t Off the Shelf)), and security mechanisms.

Highly Desired Qualifications

Other skills and demonstrated experiences that are highly desired but not mandatory to perform the work, include:
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal). 
  • Documenting process and procedures.
  • Tool idea conceptualization and requirements design.
  • Working with Windows, UNIX, and Linux platforms.
  • Understanding emerging technical trends.
  • Supporting technical operations.
  • Advanced degree in Software Engineering or similar.
