Job Overview


We are looking for Process Operators to join our highly skilled and efficient Operations Department at Gibraltar LNG Terminal.


In this role, you will be a key contributor to supporting the safe, efficient and reliable day‑to‑day operation of the Terminal. You will undertake a wide range of operational activities, including monitoring the performance of static and rotating equipment and jetty unloading arms. You will routinely inspect fire protection and safety systems to ensure full functionality, adjust process and utility equipment in line with operating instructions and procedures, and coordinate and control all maintenance activities within your designated area of responsibility.


The successful candidate will be accountable for upholding the highest standards of safety, environmental performance, and quality control, and you will play a leading role during emergency response situations, helping to protect people, assets and the environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify hazards, threats and assess risk to ensure the plant operates safely
  • Analyse and identify barriers to reduce threats
  • Pressure Test and perform leak detection on newly installed / modified equipment
  • Operate the LNG terminal based on relevant procedures and operation manuals provided by the Company
  • Participate in the emergency response on terminal and training exercises
  • Perform corrective and preventative maintenance tasks according to competency level
  • Report malfunction of equipment on plant maintenance system
  • Be pro-active in identifying and proposing continuous improvement in operation and maintenance activities
  • Be responsible for vessel offloading including completing required checklist/procedures
o   Pre and Post Vessel Checklist


o   Operating The Loading Arm


o   LNG Delivery


  • Monitor LNG- quality and stop offloading if necessary
  • Liaise with GEA Power Plant Operators on operational issues/requirements
  • Collect all necessary metering data
  • Ensure security for visitors, contractors, truck drivers and ship crew

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Good standard of general education
  • Relevant NVQ/City & Guilds/BTEC certificates, or equivalent
  • Completion of a Mechanical, Electrical or Instrumentation apprenticeship an advantage
  • Good experience in plant operations or utilities in the oil or gas processing industry
  • Experience of working at an LNG regasification Terminal an advantage
  • Good computer literacy with proficiency in the use of various computer packages such as Microsoft
  • Able to work on a 12 hour shift pattern, covering day and night.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience of working at a 24/7 LNG terminal or similar environment
  • Experience of first line maintenance activities
