RWDI is seeking a motivated individual to join us as an Internship Wind Tunnel Operator at our Trivandrum.
In conjunction with your teammates and leader you will be responsible for model testing and wind tunnel instrumentation. You will diagnose instrumentation or operational issues and perform various checks to ensure data integrity. You will also assist with maintenance of the wind tunnel, complete quality assurance documentation and have involvement in technical development projects to improve and add to the services we offer our clients.
We run our Wind Tunnel seven days a week, 24hrs a day
We offer a comprehensive training scheme with both direct mentoring and access to our bespoke Learning Management System for additional internal technical and personal development training.
Key Responsibilities
The role includes but is not limited to:
- Operating our Wind Tunnel at our Trivandrum facility
- Working on some of the world’s most recognizable structures by testing scale models
- Troubleshooting instrumentation
- Performing data integrity checks
- Installing models
- Videoing and photographing test models
- Assisting with maintenance of the Wind Tunnel and equipment
- Being part of a two person “shift” (there are four shifts in the team)
- Interacting with our Engineering team, model makers and project managers
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
Candidates should possess the following skills:
- A practical hands-on approach to quickly diagnose issues with testing
- Good attention to detail
- Ability to work a variety of shifts if required for cover purposes
- The ability to use various power and hand tools
- Strong problem-solving skill set
- Skilled in I.T.
- Good time keeping and a level head under pressure
- Strong communication skills
- Familiar with electronics and networking
- Python knowledge
