Summary of Role
We are looking for a dynamic, motivated, and hard-working Group Tax Manager. The role will report directly into the Group Financial Controller playing a key role in establishing in-house tax expertise. You will be responsible for Group tax accounting and for overseeing outsourced corporate tax compliance in 23 countries. You will support group finance and our shared service centre in all aspects of tax as well as interacting with core internal and external stakeholders as the business continues to grow.

As the Group Tax Manager, you will define, maintain and support the tax strategy of the Group, through engagement with the subsidiary businesses and key stakeholders from across the organization. You will ensure the group’s tax position is documented, understood and applied consistently across the Group whilst ensuring compliance with the latest tax legislation.

As the group builds out its shared service centre capabilities and moves to a centralised model, our ideal candidate will be a results-oriented leader with a strong bias for action, demonstrable critical-thinking capability, and a proven track record of driving transformational change across complex global environments. 

Key Responsibilities 
  • Provide analysis, guidance and technical insight on tax matters including corporation tax, indirect tax, withholding tax, transfer pricing and the impact of new global legislation.
  • Provide day-to-day support to the commercial and operational teams, including advice on VAT, withholding tax and cross border transactions.
  •  Implementation of the Group's transfer pricing strategy including monthly review of all group recharges, annual compliance with local requirements through the preparation of local and master files and maintaining appropriate agreements.
  •  Review and implement best-practice tax standards and policies across the business, including review of permanent establishments, off payroll workers, WHT and cross border transactions and US tax policies.
  •  Facilitate and manage the preparation and review of Anthesis company tax returns and the accurate, timely filing of all tax forms. 
  •  Work with the business to maximise the Groups’ ability to claim Research & Development expenditure credits (RDEC) on its product development spend.
  •  Oversight of UK VAT returns and responsibility for global VAT rates and codes in the group ERP system, NetSuite.  
  •  Drive continuous improvement across global tax processes, seeking opportunities for automation, simplification and control enhancement. 
  •  Maintain effective control procedures over all aspects of the tax process including monitoring and mitigation of identified tax risks
  •  Support external audits and manage tax‑related queries and schedules.
  •  Deliver internal tax training and communications to raise understanding and knowledge across the organisation.

Key Requirements, Skills Knowledge & Expertise

Key Requirements 
  • Qualified and technically strong tax advisor (ACA or CTA)
  • 4 + years of relevant experience in corporation tax
  • Global transfer pricing experience
  • Experience of global corporate taxes, VAT and withholding taxes
  • Experience in a private‑equity–backed environment is advantageous but not essential.
  • Experience with Oracle NetSuite is strongly preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Word) is essential 
  • Excellent English language written and verbal communication skills 
  • Strong experience with a variety of tax operations and ability to drive process improvement
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proactive self-starter with first class organizational ability, who is detail oriented, and results focused, and able to oversee and support the financial administration of several projects at once
  • Can work under pressure and with minimal supervision
  • Can work on flexible hours to support global teams in many time zones, meet changing work environment and to meet tight deadlines
