About the team and what we do
The Screening department is the first stage in the NMC’s fitness to practise process. You will be part of a small legal team where you will consider the concerns raised about our registrants, advising whether regulatory action is required or if further information is needed before a decision can be made. This is a key role in helping us to ensure the public is well protected.
Your role and impact
We are recruiting for multiple 12-month fixed term Screening Case Holders to join our dynamic and innovative department. The successful candidates will be responsible for the case management of a range of complex and challenging cases through the initial stages of Fitness to Practise. You will be key in communicating and engaging with internal and external stakeholders, delivering high standards of customer care and puts people at the heart of what we do. Case Holders will work with stakeholders to obtain relevant information and evidence that will enable Screening Decision Makers to assess whether regulatory action is required.

- Experience of managing a caseload or large varied portfolio of work.
- Experience of working as part of a team and independently, to deliver against individual targets and organisational objectives.
- Experience of working to strict timescales.
- Experience of identifying and managing risk in your day-to-day work.
- Demonstrable experience of communicating by telephone, emails and letters.
- Experience of delivering exemplary customer care in a fast paced and challenging environment.
Salary Details
London - £30,587 - £33,985
Edinburgh - £28,445 - £35,832
Please note that this role requires you to review and work with sensitive and distressing material relating to fitness to practice cases and you will be given the appropriate support to deal with this material.
