Job Overview

We are seeking an early-career legal professional to join our Legal & Compliance team. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience across asset management, litigation strategy, regulatory analysis, and loan transaction support within a fast-paced mortgage and financial services environment.

You’ll work closely with experienced legal and business leaders, contributing to real-time deal execution, risk assessment, and operational decision-making. This position is well-suited for a recent law school graduate, current 3L, or junior professional looking to build a career at the intersection of law, credit, and structured finance.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Asset Management & Credit Support
  • Review data tapes, servicing notes, payment histories, and collateral files to identify risks, defects, and opportunities
  • Support the development of strategies for loan workouts, modifications, and asset resolution
  • Assist in translating legal and operational findings into pricing adjustments, indemnities, or other deal considerations
Litigation & Default Management
  • Assist in managing foreclosure, eviction, and bankruptcy matters in coordination with outside counsel
  • Support analysis of legal issues including lien priority, title defects, and regulatory exposure
  • Contribute to tracking litigation outcomes, timelines, and costs
Transaction & Deal Support
  • Support drafting and review of transaction documents, including PSAs, MLPAs, and related agreements
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external partners to support diligence and closing workflows
  • Assist in resolving repurchase, indemnity, and exception-related matters
Regulatory & Compliance
  • Research and analyze federal and state mortgage regulations, particularly related to non-agency and non-QM products
  • Support the integration of compliance considerations into operational workflows
  • Contribute to maintaining templates, checklists, and internal guidance materials

Education and Experience:

  • J.D. (completed or in progress for current 3L students)
  • Recent law school graduate, current 3L, or early-career professional (0–2 years) with relevant experience in mortgage, compliance, legal, or financial services environments
  • Bar admission or intent to sit for the bar preferred
  • Strong research, writing, and analytical skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail
  • High integrity and sound judgment, with the ability to identify and escalate risk
