Job Overview

Are you passionate about cutting‑edge composite technology and excited by the challenge of developing high‑performance solutions in a fast‑paced motorsport environment? We’re looking for a talented Composite Development Design & Test Engineer to join our team and help drive the next generation of composite innovation at AMRF1.

In this pivotal role, you’ll work closely with Aerodynamicists, Structures Analysts, Designers, Operations and our R&D Laminators to accelerate the development of composite materials, processes and technologies. You’ll take ownership of design and test projects, ensuring best practice, clear communication, and high‑quality engineering output across multiple programmes.

This is a dynamic, hands‑on position where your creativity, problem‑solving abilities and technical expertise will have a direct impact on performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver composite development and test projects, collaborating with technical experts across the organisation.
  • Drive continuous improvement in composite design, manufacturing processes and performance.
  • Produce accurate, clear and complete composite designs, CAD models, drawings, and test methodologies.
  • Communicate results and project outcomes through reports, presentations and technical documentation.
  • Support first‑off and pre‑production builds, helping troubleshoot manufacturing challenges.
  • Manage your workload across multiple projects and provide regular progress updates to stakeholders.
  • Design test rigs, prototype equipment, and other tooling required for development activities.
  • Deputise for the Composite Development Lead Engineer when needed.
  • Identify new technologies, materials and suppliers – including attending trade shows or site visits.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of industry standards and developments in composite materials and manufacturing.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Degree (or equivalent experience) in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Proven experience in a similar role within motorsport.
  • Strong CAD capability – ideally Catia and 3DX.
  • A creative, flexible and innovative approach to technical problem‑solving.
  • Ability to manage development projects through to practical, realisable solutions.
  • Calmness under pressure, with the ability to meet demanding deadlines.
  • A collaborative mindset and strong communication skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage your own workload and support others.
  • Commitment, reliability, self‑motivation and enthusiasm.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to support project and supplier requirements.
  • Commitment to the full requirements and expectations of our Health & Safety standards.
