Position Summary

The Registered Nurse serves as the clinical lead for participant care within Better Life Care, ensuring compliance with the State of Maryland COMAR 10.12.04 and professional nursing standards. The RN oversees the hands on medical operations, supervises LPNs and CNAs, performs assessments, develops care plans, and coordinates with families, providers, and the Medical Director to ensure safe, high-quality participant care.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Leadership & Participant Assessment

·      Perform initial nursing assessments upon admission and complete required reassessments (minimum every 6 months or sooner if medical changes observed or occur).
·      Document assessments, charting, nursing notes, and health changes accurately and promptly.
·      Closely collaborate with the Head Nurse /Associate Director to lead the clinical decision-making process and escalate concerns to the Medical Director and the Director.
·      Maintain clinical oversight of all participants to ensure stability for program suitability.

Care Plan Development & Oversight

·      Create individualized care plans in collaboration with the Medical Director, Social Worker, and activity staff.
·      Update care plans after assessments, hospitalizations, medication changes, or changes in condition.
·      Ensure care plan interventions are followed and documented by LPNs and CNAs.
 

Medication Management & Delegation

·      Oversee all medication administration and MAR documentation.
·      Ensure proper safety, security, storage, labeling, ordering, and inventory of medications.
·      With continued supervision, provide nursing delegation to LPNs and CNAs in accordance with Maryland Board of Nursing regulations.
·      Review PRN medication effectiveness and follow up as required.

 Incident Management & Emergency Response

·      Lead emergency responses, provide first aid, and activate EMS when needed.
·      Complete and review incident reports, ensure follow-up actions, and report required events to regulatory bodies.
·      Train staff on emergency procedures and safety protocols.

Infection Control & Compliance

·      Maintain and enforce infection-control policies, including universal precautions, sanitization procedures, and outbreak protocols.
·      Audit daily environment for hazards, safety issues, and compliance gaps.
·      Ensure compliance with COMAR, HIPAA, OSHA, and all adult day care nursing standards.

Clinical Supervision & Team Support

·      Supervise and support LPNs, and CNAs delegating tasks appropriately.
·      Provide clinical guidance to the entire staff including, LPNs, CNAs and Program Assistants, especially for ADLs, transfers, toileting, and mobility safety.
·      Participate in interdisciplinary meetings and lead clinical updates with staff.
·      Provide caregiver/participant health education as needed.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise


Registered Nurse (RN) – Maryland Board of Nursing (active and in good standing).
·      Minimum 5 years of clinical experience (adult day care, geriatric, long-term care, home health, or acute care preferred).
·      Current CPR/First Aid certification.
·      Strong clinical assessment, documentation, and leadership skills.
·      Ability to assist with transfers, mobility, and emergency response.
 

Schedule & Work Conditions

·      Full-time, Monday–Friday
·      Must pass background check, drug screen, TB test, and provide immunization records
·      Works onsite daily in a fast-paced adult day care environment
