Vines Group have an exciting opportunity for a Credit Controller to join the Accounts team. Vines are a private family-owned business with retailers across Surrey and Sussex; in 2020 we celebrated 40 years in association with BMW and MINI. 

The team are looking for a proactive and meticulous Credit Controller who is ready for their next challenge within the automotive industry. In return Vines offer personal development and progression all within a "family feel" environment. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain an effective and efficient credit control system to support business cash flow.
  • Assess customer creditworthiness using credit rating agencies and determine appropriate credit limits.
  • Monitor customer accounts to ensure payments are received within agreed credit terms.
  • Proactively chase overdue payments through telephone, email, and written communication.
  • Investigate and resolve internal and external queries relating to invoices and payments.
  • Liaise with department managers to provide updates on outstanding debts and reasons for non-payment.
  • Escalate high-risk or overdue accounts where necessary and recommend appropriate action.
  • Provide clear, accurate financial information and analysis to non-finance colleagues.
  • Support the wider accounts team and provide cover when required.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of customer accounts and credit control activities.
  • Contribute to a well-organised, compliant, and safe working environment.

Skills Knowledge and Expertise

  • Solid understanding of double-entry bookkeeping (Purchase & Sales Ledger).
  • Previous experience in credit control is essential.
  • Confident interpreting credit reports and making informed decisions.
  • Strong communication skills – clear, professional, and approachable. 
  • Comfortable handling queries and building relationships across teams.
  • Good working knowledge of Excel and Word.
  • Highly organised, with strong attention to detail. 
  • Able to manage your workload, meet deadlines, and stay calm under pressure.
  • A team player who’s happy to support others when needed.
