Vines Group have an exciting opportunity for a Credit Controller to join the Accounts team. Vines are a private family-owned business with retailers across Surrey and Sussex; in 2020 we celebrated 40 years in association with BMW and MINI.
The team are looking for a proactive and meticulous Credit Controller who is ready for their next challenge within the automotive industry. In return Vines offer personal development and progression all within a "family feel" environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain an effective and efficient credit control system to support business cash flow.
- Assess customer creditworthiness using credit rating agencies and determine appropriate credit limits.
- Monitor customer accounts to ensure payments are received within agreed credit terms.
- Proactively chase overdue payments through telephone, email, and written communication.
- Investigate and resolve internal and external queries relating to invoices and payments.
- Liaise with department managers to provide updates on outstanding debts and reasons for non-payment.
- Escalate high-risk or overdue accounts where necessary and recommend appropriate action.
- Provide clear, accurate financial information and analysis to non-finance colleagues.
- Support the wider accounts team and provide cover when required.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of customer accounts and credit control activities.
- Contribute to a well-organised, compliant, and safe working environment.
Skills Knowledge and Expertise
- Solid understanding of double-entry bookkeeping (Purchase & Sales Ledger).
- Previous experience in credit control is essential.
- Confident interpreting credit reports and making informed decisions.
- Strong communication skills – clear, professional, and approachable.
- Comfortable handling queries and building relationships across teams.
- Good working knowledge of Excel and Word.
- Highly organised, with strong attention to detail.
- Able to manage your workload, meet deadlines, and stay calm under pressure.
- A team player who’s happy to support others when needed.
