Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Animal Care & Patient Support
- Assist with safely handling and restraining animals during exams and procedures
- Provide basic care including feeding, bathing, and exercising patients
- Administer medications as directed by veterinarians
- Monitor and record vital signs, reporting changes to the medical team
- Facility Maintenance & Safety
- Clean and sanitize kennels, exam rooms, and treatment areas
- Sterilize and maintain surgical and medical instruments
- Ensure a clean, organized, and safe environment for patients, clients, and staff
- Client Service & Communication
- Greet clients warmly and assist with check-in and check-out
- Schedule appointments and manage incoming calls/inquiries
- Educate clients on basic pet care, medications, and treatment plans
- Relay important information between clients and veterinary staff
- Administrative & Operational Support
- Maintain accurate patient records and update medical files
- Assist with billing, invoicing, and financial transactions
- Monitor inventory levels and help order supplies as needed
- Laboratory & Diagnostic Assistance
- Collect and prepare laboratory samples
- Assist with diagnostic procedures such as X-rays and blood draws
- Support veterinarians during exams and treatments
- Emergency & Critical Care Support
- Assist during emergency situations and urgent care procedures
- Follow established protocols to support patient stabilization and treatment
- Professional Development
- Stay current on veterinary best practices and procedures
- Participate in ongoing training and continuing education opportunities
Skills Knowledge and Expertise
- Previous veterinary experience preferred but not required
- Veterinary Assistant certification or Veterinary Technician licensure is a plus
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
- Compassionate approach to patient care and client service
