Job Overview


Responsible for creating needed replacement parts for various machines throughout the plant from drawings, sketches, or verbal descriptions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Comply with policies, guidelines, and regulatory requirements per the Franklin Electric Quality System.
  • Report problems with quality, process, equipment, and materials to Production Supervisor.
  • Maintains a clean and organized work area to facilitate manufacturing functions.
  • Supports the manufacturing process by assisting in repair of equipment.
  • Teams up with other maintenance staff and engineers to find out the part that needs to be created. 
  • Utilizes various machines to create the required part as determined.
  • Follows blueprints if available to create required parts.
  • Participates in improvement events and recommends improvements to existing processes.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities

Skills Knowledge and Expertise

  • Hands-on experience with tool and die equipment.
  • Works with various CNC and/or manual, cutting and grinding machines, and hand tools.
  • Must be able to read and understand blueprints with knowledge of basic GD&T.
  • Works with CAD software. AutoCad or Draftsite knowledge preferred.
  • Reads and understands documents such as policy manuals, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. 
  • Utilizes common sense understanding in order to carry out written, oral, or diagrammed instructions.
  • Provides accurate work on a consistent basis meeting precise tolerances and standards.
  • Interpersonal skills sufficient to work closely with others on a team.
  • Ability to demonstrate flexibility in work environment performing a variety of frequently changing tasks.
  • Ability to work alone effectively under stress and in situations dangerous to self or others.
  • Completes some moderately repetitive tasks.
Education and Experience
High School Diploma or Equivalent (required).
  • Completion of trade school or equivalent completing certificate in maintenance (preferred)
  • One (1) year or more of experience working as a tool and die specialist. (required) May substitute education for experience.
Computer Skills
MS Office
  • Ability to load CAD drawing files into CNC machines.
