Job Overview

The Systems Administrator is responsible for the reliability, security, and day-to-day operation of the company’s IT infrastructure. This role owns core systems including servers, identity, cloud infrastructure, Microsoft 365, networking, and endpoint management. The ideal candidate is hands-on, security-minded, and comfortable troubleshooting complex issues independently in a mixed on-prem and cloud environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer and maintain Windows Server environments (on-prem and Azure)
  • Manage Microsoft 365 services including Exchange, Entra ID (Azure AD), Teams, and Intune
  • Provision and manage user accounts, permissions, groups, and access controls
  • Monitor system performance, availability, and security
  • Manage backups, disaster recovery, and business continuity processes
  • Administer network services including firewalls, VPNs, LAN/WAN, and site-to-site connectivity
  • Patch, update, and harden systems according to best practices
  • Troubleshoot outages and complex technical issues across systems and networks
  • Work with vendors and ISPs while owning resolution and follow-through
  • Maintain accurate system documentation and diagrams
  • Support IT projects such as infrastructure upgrades, migrations, and security initiatives
  • Assist with endpoint management and escalation support when needed

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • 3+ years experience as a Systems Administrator or similar role
  • Strong Windows Server administration experience
  • Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, routing, VPNs)
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 administration
  • Familiarity with Azure or other cloud platforms
  • Experience implementing security controls, backups, and recovery
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues independently and methodically
  • Strong documentation and communication skills

Preferred Technical Experiences:
  • Azure infrastructure administration (VMs, networking, RBAC)
  • Intune / endpoint management
  • VMware or Hyper-V
  • Linux administration
  • Scripting or automation (PowerShell preferred)
  • Experience supporting multiple sites or remote offices
