High-Level Overview 
The client is seeking an Investment Senior Associate to support the deployment of an impact debt fund focused on expanding access to off-grid solar energy across Sub-Saharan Africa. Reporting to the Investment Lead, this role will support investment execution in underserved and high-risk markets where traditional capital is limited, presenting both execution complexity and significant impact potential. The ideal candidate will bring strong investment execution experience, deep financial analysis capability, and a demonstrated commitment to impact investing and renewable energy in emerging markets. 

Role and Responsibilities

Key Deliverables: 
  • Support the advancement of an existing pipeline of off-grid solar investment opportunities 
  • Lead and coordinate due diligence workstreams across commercial, financial, and impact areas 
  • Develop and refine financial models to support live transactions, including scenario and risk analysis 
  • Prepare high-quality investment memoranda and credit papers for Investment Committee review 
  • Support portfolio monitoring and performance tracking across active investments 
  • Contribute to internal reporting on pipeline status, risks, and fund performance 

Requirements

Experience Required: 
  • Demonstrated experience in investment banking, private equity, venture capital, or impact investing 
  • Track record of executing transactions including due diligence and deal structuring 
  • Exposure to renewable energy and/or infrastructure investments 
  • Experience working in emerging or frontier markets 
  • Academic background in finance, economics, business, engineering, or a related field 

Technical Requirements:
  • Advanced financial modelling, valuation, and investment analysis capability 
  • Strong investment judgment in high-risk, emerging market contexts 
  • Ability to assess credit risk, scalability, and commercial viability of early-stage businesses 
  • Experience integrating impact considerations into investment decision-making 
  • Ability to navigate regulatory, political, and operational complexities

Working Arrangement
Location:
Nairobi, Kenya (preferred) or other locations across Africa
Travel:
Periodic travel across Sub-Saharan Africa as required for investment sourcing, due diligence, and portfolio support
