Job Overview

The Apprentice Business Administrator will provide structured administrative support to the UU Rehab contract, working across the customer and planning functions. The role is designed to build practical experience in operational administration, data management and stakeholder coordination within a utilities environment. The apprentice will contribute to maintaining accurate records, supporting compliance processes and ensuring efficient day-to-day contract support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the customer team with the preparation, printing and organisation of documents.
  • Support the planning team with various administrative tasks including digitisation of operational activities.
  • Maintain clear, accurate records (audits, site documentation, compliance records, etc.).
  • Assist with Street Works administration using Street Manager.
  • Liaise with internal teams (such as site managers and sub-contractors) to gather information and keep tasks on track.
  • Update internal systems and trackers to ensure live visibility of works status.
  • File and archive documentation in line with contractual and audit requirements.
  • Support the preparation of reports for internal and client review meetings.
  • Respond to general administrative queries in a timely and professional manner.
  • Ensure all documentation aligns with UU and company standards and processes.
Learning & Development

  • Complete the Business Administrator Level 3 apprenticeship standard.
  • Develop knowledge of utilities operations, compliance requirements and Street Works legislation.
  • Build capability in data management, document control and stakeholder communication.
  • Gain experience in supporting a live operational contract within a regulated environment.

Experience and Qualifications


  •  Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  •  Good written and verbal communication skills.
  •  Comfortable using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  •  Willingness to learn new systems (e.g., Street Manager, internal planning tools).
  •  Ability to manage time effectively and prioritise tasks.
  •  Professional and proactive approach.
 Qualifications

GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths (Grade 4/C or above preferred).

Interest in administration, operations or utilities sector careers.
