Job Overview

We are seeking a highly capable and driven Senior Aerodynamicist to lead and develop a team of engineers within Aston Martin Performance Technologies (AMPT) while delivering high-performance aerodynamic solutions across cutting-edge engineering programmes. This role combines technical excellence with people leadership, supporting the delivery of innovative projects rooted in Formula 1–level engineering capability.

You will play a key role in shaping aerodynamic performance, driving continuous improvement, and collaborating across multidisciplinary teams to deliver world-class results.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a a small team of aerodynamicists to deliver project and performance objectives
  • Analyse and interpret aerodynamic data from wind tunnel (WT), CFD, and other test methods to guide development decisions
  • Create and iterate aerodynamic concepts and geometry using CAD to solve complex performance challenges
  • Collaborate closely with design teams to ensure aerodynamic intent is accurately realised
  • Drive continuous improvement in aerodynamic development tools, methodologies, and processes
  • Support operational excellence through effective planning, prioritisation, and delivery against project timelines
  • Mentor, coach, and develop junior team members to enhance team capability and performance
  • Contribute to cross-functional collaboration to optimise design, development, and manufacturing outcomes
  • Actively participate in technical reviews, meetings, and decision-making forums
  • Uphold professional standards, ensuring compliance with organisational processes and reporting structures

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Degree in Engineering, Aerodynamics, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience)
  • Strong, demonstrable expertise in aerodynamics with the ability to apply theory to real-world challenges
  • Proven experience in high-performance aerodynamic environments (e.g., Formula 1 or similar)
  • Experience leading or mentoring engineers, with the ability to develop team capability
  • Proficiency in interpreting CFD and wind tunnel data to drive performance improvements
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to rapidly understand and respond to complex challenges
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills across multidisciplinary teams
  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritise effectively, and deliver results to tight deadlines
