Job Overview

RWDI Air Inc. is seeking a dynamic individual to join its Air Emissions Testing team as a Non-Destructive Test Technician (Emission Monitoring Specialist – Senior) in our Guelph office.

Key Responsibilities

The role includes but is not limited to:
  • Planning and executing technical aspects of air testing projects (focus on Stack/Fugitive Emissions Monitoring at industrial facilities)
  • Writing and reviewing technical reports
  • Establishing techniques for proper examination of sources under inspection, ensuring strict adherence to safety regulations and methodologies.
  • Conducting tests to ensure emissions quality or ECA compliance using Iso-kinetic, Paramagnetic, Chemo-luminescence, FTIR, eddy current and other testing methods
  • Appling testing criteria in accordance with applicable specifications or standards and evaluate results
  • Potentially performing specialized engineering studies to ensure process performance
  • Training and evaluating junior staff in current testing methodologies
  • Interacting with clients and project managers to identify project requirements.
  • Preparing budget estimates for field projects
  • Ensuring QA/QC are followed by teams
  • Managing equipment inventory and maintenance
  • Troubleshooting instrumentation issues in the field both remotely and in person
  • Preparation, calibration and deployment of source testing equipment
  • Work in a team environment to complete assigned tasks
  • Learn and follow standard procedures in stack or source testing/sampling
  • Equipment, mobile lab cleaning and glassware preparation
  • Working to strict schedules while maintaining a high level of quality

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise


We are accepting applications from candidates with the following qualifications:
  • At least 5 years of source testing experience
  • Strong computer, analytical and technical “hands-on” skills
  • An aptitude for practical problem solving
  • Extensive Field/Site experience
  • QSTI certification (or Equivalent)
  • Knowledge of Ontario and US EPA stack testing methods is an asset
  • A valid driver’s licence
Candidates should also possess:
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong people and team skills as well as being highly motivated
  • An ability to work in a fast-paced team environment with no supervision
  • Exceptional organizational capabilities, coordination and consultation skills
  • Willingness to travel and to work long hours, evenings, weekends (including Sundays)
  • The ability to perform manual tasks and be physically fit with the ability to perform heavy lifting.
  • Ability to work on several projects at once and proven ability to successfully meet deadlines.
  • Aptitude for attention to detail to ensure a high degree of quality assurance and quality control.
