px Group has been awarded a major Operations, Engineering and Maintenance (OE&M) contract by NZT Power and the Northern Endurance Partnership (NEP). This work will support two major regional projects:

  • NZT Power’s carbon capture plant
  • NEP’s onshore compression facilities

Over the initial five-year term, px Group will deliver the OE&M requirements of the Operational Readiness phase, supporting commissioning and managing the handover from the Joint Venture project teams into full operations. 

The Opportunity
We are now recruiting for 2 x Shift Team Leaders. 

The Shift Team Leader for Net Zero Teesside is accountable for the safe, efficient, and compliant execution of all operational activities during their shift. The role provides frontline leadership to the operations team, ensuring that plant performance, safety, and reliability targets are consistently achieved while maintaining full adherence to regulatory and company standards.

You’ll be supported with personalised on the job training, coaching, mentoring and twice-yearly development and performance reviews to help maintain & develop your contributions and competence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as Site Incident Controller for all emergency response situations. 
  • Lead and coordinate all shift-based operational activities to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient plant operation. 
  • Provide leadership and support for major engineering and maintenance activities, including outages, shutdowns, and unplanned events, ensuring effective coordination, communication, and safe execution. 
  • Determine and prioritise maintenance activities through daily planning routines, ensuring alignment with plant needs and operational priorities. 
  • Drive the safe and timely execution of maintenance and operational activities, ensuring quality and compliance are maintained. 
  • Act as Line Manager for the assigned shift team, ensuring delivery of operational performance through effective leadership, development, and welfare management.

Minimum Requirements

  • HNC in relevant discipline, or equivalent. 
  • Demonstrable experience in a supervisory role within a 24/7 high hazard operational environment.
  • Experience of Management of Change processes, including implementation of system improvements, upgrades, and modifications. 
  • Understanding of COMAH regulations and their application within an operational environment. 
  • Familiarity with budgetary processes, including operational and capital expenditure awareness. 
  • Strong fault diagnosis and problem-solving capability. 
  • Completion of required company induction and role-specific training.
