What You'll Do:

As a Veterinary Technician, you will play an essential role in supporting veterinarians, caring for patients, educating clients, and ensuring smooth daily hospital operations.
  • Patient Care & Nursing

    • Perform patient assessments and obtain accurate medical histories
    • Monitor hospitalized patients and report changes in condition
    • Administer medications via IV, IM, SQ, and oral routes
    • Calculate and administer fluid therapy accurately
    • Place and maintain intravenous catheters
    • Monitor and record vital signs including temperature, pulse, and respiration
    • Provide compassionate nursing care and patient comfort
    • Assist with medical treatments and patient recovery
  • Laboratory & Diagnostic Procedures

    • Collect blood, urine, fecal, and cytology samples
    • Perform venipuncture and laboratory sample preparation
    • Run in-house laboratory diagnostics including CBCs, urinalysis, fecals, and infectious disease testing
    • Prepare and evaluate laboratory samples
    • Assist with ECGs and diagnostic testing
  • Surgery & Anesthesia

    • Prepare patients for surgical procedures
    • Induce, monitor, and recover patients under anesthesia
    • Monitor anesthetic depth, ECG, pulse oximetry, blood pressure, and temperature
    • Assist veterinarians during surgical procedures
    • Maintain accurate anesthesia and surgical records
    • Sterilize and maintain surgical instruments and equipment
  • Radiology & Imaging

    • Obtain high-quality diagnostic radiographs
    • Position patients safely and effectively
    • Follow radiation safety protocols and OSHA standards
    • Assist with digital imaging management
  • Client Communication

    • Educate pet owners regarding treatments, medications, preventative care, and post-operative instructions
    • Provide discharge instructions and answer client questions
    • Deliver compassionate support during difficult medical situations and end-of-life care
    • Build trusting relationships with clients through exceptional service
  • Emergency & Critical Care Support

    • Assist with triage and urgent patient care when needed
    • Perform basic life support and CPR
    • Monitor critical patients and maintain accurate medical records
    • Assist veterinarians during emergency procedures

Qualifications:

Required
  • Previous experience as a Veterinary Technician or Veterinary Assistant with advanced technical skills
  • Strong knowledge of veterinary medicine, patient care, and animal handling
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Preferred

  • RVT, LVT, or CVT credentials
  • Experience with anesthesia monitoring and surgical assistance
  • Experience with digital radiography and in-house laboratory diagnostics
Technical Skills

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move throughout scheduled shifts
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds independently and assist with larger patients as needed
  • Ability to safely handle dogs and cats of varying sizes and temperaments
