Shift: Rotating, 12 hour Grave Shift (Purple), 6:00 pm - 6:30 am including some weekends
Wage: Starts at a base of $27.31/Hr. with a $2.00/Hr. shift differential

Position Overview: The Maintenance Mechanic I ensures all machines and equipment run smoothly by repairing and maintaining machinery and mechanical equipment in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, and manufacturer specifications.
Key Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions:
- Performs planned and unplanned maintenance and repairs to all milling and packaging equipment.
- Uses all types of maintenance tools and equipment, including welders, grinders, air tools, hand tools, and power tools.
- Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments.
- Fabricates replacement and newly designed parts for various pieces of equipment.
- Initiates requests for parts and equipment in coordination with the Maintenance Coordinator.
- Assists with installing special functional and structural parts for equipment operation.
- Assembles and disassembles equipment for repair, changeovers, and cleanouts.
- Performs size changeover adjustments to case packers and other equipment.
- Documents repairs in applicable reports, forms, and logs.
- Responsible for keeping work areas clean and safe.
- Complies with all company policies and procedures and operates all equipment in a safe and food-safe manner.
- Complies with Bob’s Red Mill food safety policies and procedures including adherence to FDA regulations, Safe Quality Food (SQF) Standards, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
- Responsible for reporting food safety and quality concerns to Supervisors and/or Department Manager.
- Performs other duties and tasks as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- None.
- This position reports to the Maintenance Foreman.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to weld and braze metals and materials.
- Proficiency with basic hand tools and machinery setup.
- Possesses effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Understands tools and principles involved in mechanical production settings.
- Ability to incorporate feedback from staff and other stakeholders in troubleshooting and resolving equipment issues.
- Proficiency with basic hand tools for machine set up and operation.
- Ability to work independently and in collaboration with others.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical functions including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- Ability to read, understand, and communicate operational and safety information in English.
- Demonstrates Respect, Teamwork, Accountability, and Determination.
- Ability to work in an environment where exposure to potential food allergens is or may be present.
Education and Experience:
- 1 or more years of maintenance or mechanic experience, AND
- High school diploma or equivalent required; OR
- Any combination of education and additional years of experience that provides the necessary skills, knowledge, and ability to perform assigned tasks.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, LME license preferred.
Preferred Skills:
- Understands fundamental design and setup techniques involved in mechanical production settings.
- Ability to weld metals.
- Ability to safely operate forklifts and aerial work platforms.
Physical Demands:
- Frequently requires the ability to lift items weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Frequently requires the ability to climb ladders and stairways.
- Position may require standing for long periods of time, as well as stooping, squatting, bending, and kneeling.
- Position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Work Environment:
- This position will perform work within all areas of the facility and may be exposed to dust, dirt, grease and extremes and difference in temperature.
- Employees will be exposed to common food allergens.
