This is an excellent opportunity for a Junior Mechanical Engineer to join a central Asset Management team that supports capital investment, upgrades and technical project delivery across Greenergy’s operational sites and strategic third-party assets.
Based in Grimsby, with regular travel to UK and overseas sites as required, you’ll support mechanical project activity including scope preparation, design coordination, contractor documentation, progress reporting, construction support and commissioning. You’ll also help maintain clear project trackers, reports and updates covering actions, risks, costs, approvals, milestones and site works.
We’re looking for someone with a mechanical engineering background, good attention to detail and a proactive approach to learning. This role offers strong development opportunities within asset management, giving you exposure to project delivery, technical standards, site operations and cross-functional working while continuing to build your mechanical engineering experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Engineering and support on any Greenergy terminal as required
- Support the Lead Mechanical Engineer in client-side management of 3rd Party Terminal projects
- Project related documentation creation and management
- External resource documentation management
- Carry out or manage mechanical system designs as required dependant on size and complexity in house or with third party contracts
- Provide support for mechanical design reviews
- Support construction management of projects as required
- Preparation or review of mechanical scope of works for tendering
- Review mechanical submissions from third party companies ensuring best price and schedule to match project requirements
- Ensure adherence with mechanical standards in line with current and upcoming legislation with regards to all discipline aspects
- Provide system commissioning assistance
- Provide technical/engineering assistance to terminal engineering teams as directed within competency
- Assist in business development activities as required
- Assistance on all project related issues as required
- Assist in carrying out audits as required
- Ensure all project works are carried out within the Greenergy Corporate Framework
- Format weekly and monthly project updates from terminal operators and Greenergy stakeholders.
- Maintain clear project reporting packs covering scope, schedule, cost, risks, issues, actions, approvals, procurement, site works, commissioning and HSE.
- Track project progress against baseline completion dates, forecast completion dates, milestones, approved budgets, and actual spend where available.
- Escalate gaps, risks, technical issues and commercial concerns for review and decision.
- When required attend project meetings, capture actions and follow up owners to close out agreed items.
- Support the preparation of client-side status updates for senior management review.
- Maintain action, risk, decision and approval trackers.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Essential:
- Minimum HND in a mechanical discipline, or equivalent practical experience in an engineering-focused role
- Experience in project delivery
- Ability and willingness to travel to UK and overseas sites on a regular basis
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint)
- CAD proficiency
- Safety-first mindset

- Clear written communications
- Ability to follow up actions and close gaps
- Willingness to learn
- Comfortable working across diverse teams
- Willingness to escalate early when information, authority or competence is insufficient
Desirable:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Experience in a fuel storage environment or similar
- Understanding of COMAH requirements
- Understanding of relevant legislative compliance requirements
- Completion of recognised apprenticeship pathway
- Experience in reviewing engineering data
- Experience in working with technical authorities
