Job Overview

Sandwell College is looking for a passionate and industry-experienced Lecturer in Beauty therapy to join our vibrant and growing Hair and Beauty department on a part time 18.5 hours per week basis. This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic educator or industry professional who is committed to delivering high-quality teaching and inspiring students to achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality teaching, learning, and assessment across Hair & Beauty programmes. 
  • Support students through tutorials, target setting, and progress reviews. 
  • Develop engaging lesson materials and learning activities. 
  • Monitor and promote student attendance, retention, achievement, and progression. 
  • Maintain accurate student records and course documentation. 
  • Contribute to curriculum development and continuous improvement activities. 

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • A degree and/or relevant professional qualification in Beauty or a related subject area, or willingness to work towards one
  • A Level 3 Beauty qualification
  • A teaching qualification (Certificate in Education or Level 5 Teaching Qualification) or willingness to work towards one
  • Experience of delivering high-quality teaching, learning, and assessment within the Beauty sector 
  • Experience of preparing engaging learning materials and supporting student achievement 
  • Experience in the Beauty industry and/or teaching Beauty programmes


Teaching Qualifications & Salary Banding

To be eligible for our Qualified Lecturer salary banding (£31,837 - £48,160), you must hold one of the following teaching qualifications:

Accepted Qualifications:
  • DTTLS (Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector)
  • Certificate in Education
  • PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education)
  • ProfGCE (Professional Graduate Certificate in Education) 
  • DET (Diploma in Education and Training)
  • DiT (Diploma in Teaching) – if for a vocational subject
If you do not hold one of the above qualifications, you will fall into our Unqualified Lecturer salary banding (£26,661 - £29,998).

Not Accepted as Stand Alone Qualifications:
  • PTLLS (Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector)
  • CTLLS (Certificate in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector)
  • CELTA (Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults) 
  • SFHEA (Senior Fellowship)
  • Masters in Education
  • TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language)
