We are looking to recruit a reliable and enthusiastic Service Assistant to join our Catering Team on a part time (25 hours), 36 weeks term-time only basis. This is a fixed term opportunity covering maternity leave from September 2026 to June 2027. Reporting to the Chef Manager, you will play an important role in supporting the day-to-day operation of our catering service, helping to provide a welcoming, safe, and high-quality dining experience for students, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the preparation of food and refreshments, including salad items, baked products, and hot food service preparation for any of our catering outlets anything required from the Chef Manager.
- Prepare and set up dining and service areas where needed, ensuring they are clean, organised, and ready for service including any restocking of goods.
- Operate cash tills and undertake cashier duties in line with college procedures
- Clean down of catering areas to a high standard.
- Assist with washing-up and daily cleaning duties to maintain a safe and hygienic environment
- Follow SFBB regards food temperatures recordings cleaning rotas are all completed.
- Assist with college hospitality functions, open events, and other special events
- Follow food hygiene, food safety, and health and safety procedures always.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a busy catering environment
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Understanding of food hygiene and health and safety practices, or willingness to learn
