Job Overview

We are seeking a reliable and safety-conscious Summer Student Tractor Driver to assist with site and operational activities during the summer period. The successful candidate will operate agricultural tractors with dump trailers and/or water tankers to support construction, maintenance, landscaping, and general site operations. This role provides an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience working in a dynamic outdoor environment.

This role is for the summer months only, Mon – Fri 09:00 – 17:00
Applicants must be over 18 and have a licence to drive a tractor

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate tractors fitted with dump trailers and water tankers.
  • Transport soil, stone, aggregate, and other materials around site locations.
  • Carry out dust suppression activities using water tankers as directed.
  • Conduct daily pre-start inspections and routine checks on tractors, trailers, and associated equipment.
  • Report any mechanical defects, faults, incidents, or safety concerns to management.
  • Assist with loading and unloading materials where required.
  • Maintain equipment in a clean and serviceable condition.
  • Comply with all company health, safety, and environmental procedures.
  • Follow site traffic management plans and supervisor instructions.
  • Assist with general labouring and site duties when machinery operation is not required.
  • Maintain accurate records of vehicle inspections and operational activities as required.
This position offers valuable hands-on experience in machinery operation, site logistics, and safe working practices while contributing to the successful delivery of operational activities throughout the summer season.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Minimum age requirement in accordance with company policy and legal requirements.
  • Full valid driving licence (Category B minimum; additional categories advantageous).
  • Ability to operate agricultural machinery safely and responsibly.
  • Good awareness of health and safety practices.
  • Reliable, punctual, and willing to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
  • Strong commitment to safety.
  • Good communication skills.
