The fitter is responsible to the Second Engineer/Chief Officer for:

·        Assisting the engine room watch keepers/UMS duty engineers as required, in particular with regard to the maintenance of the plant

·        Maintaining all machinery, technical equipment, plant etc. as instructed and under the supervision and guidance of an Engineer Officer

·        Adopting safe working practices 

·        Undertaking any other duties assigned by the Chief Engineer and/or Second Engineer

·        Ability to perform tasks in an orderly way

·        Comfortable understanding and following instructions and willing to ask for clarification if necessary
