We've launched Medi-Salt, the UK's first dedicated pharmaceutical-grade salt manufacturing facility. Producing high-purity salt for use as both an Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) and pharmaceutical excipient, Medi-Salt is setting new standards in quality, compliance and innovation.
A key Quality opportunity
To support our continued growth and commitment to world-class quality, we're looking for a Quality Systems Manager to lead and evolve our Quality Management System, audit and compliance programmes across multiple operations.
In this influential role, you'll drive the governance, performance and continuous improvement of quality systems across our Sodium Bicarbonate, British Salt and Sodium Carbonate Packaging operations. Working at the heart of our pharmaceutical and manufacturing excellence journey, you'll ensure our standards not only meet expectations—but set the benchmark.
If you're passionate about quality, compliance and continuous improvement, and want to work somewhere with a "familial feel" then this could be the role for you.
Key Responsibilities
What's the role?
The Quality Systems Manager is responsible for the governance, coordination, performance monitoring and continuous improvement of the Quality Management System across the Sodium Bicarbonate, British Salt quality operations and Sodium Carbonate Packaging operations.
The role provides independent oversight of core QMS processes including internal audits, SOP and document review, deviations, CAPAs, change controls, complaints action tracking, management review inputs and QMS performance metrics.
Responsibilities include:
- Own the day-to-day governance, visibility and performance monitoring of the Quality Management System, ensuring deviations, CAPAs, change controls, SOP reviews, complaints actions and audit actions are actively tracked, risk-prioritised and escalated where required.
- Manage the internal audit programme across relevant sites, ensuring the audit schedule is risk-based, completed to plan, findings are appropriately classified, corrective actions are verified for effectiveness, and overdue actions are escalated through clear governance routes.
- Produce, interpret and report QMS KPIs and trends, including overdue action status, audit completion, CAPA ageing, deviation and change control performance, SOP review status and recurring quality system weaknesses. Use these outputs to drive prioritisation, escalation and continuous improvement.
- Support compliance across GMP/MHRA, BRCGS, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, Halal, Kosher, HACCP and other relevant standards by ensuring QMS processes remain controlled, effective, evidence-based and consistently applied across the relevant operations.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
- Experience managing, coordinating or improving QMS processes in a regulated manufacturing, chemical, pharmaceutical, food, life sciences or similarly compliance-led environment.
- Strong practical understanding of deviations, CAPA, change control, internal audits, document control, complaints action tracking and management review.
- Experience preparing QMS evidence, dashboards, action trackers or management summaries for customer, certification, regulatory or internal audits.
- Strong influencing and follow-up skills, with the confidence to challenge action owners, drive timely closure and maintain clear audit trails.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce KPI reports, audit packs, QMS summaries, meeting minutes and senior management updates.
- Pragmatic and proportionate approach to compliance, with the ability to balance audit readiness, business priorities and sustainable process control
- Internal auditor or lead auditor qualification.
- Knowledge of GMP, MHRA expectations, BRCGS, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, HACCP, Halal, Kosher and ICH Q7/Q9/Q10 or equivalent quality standards.
