Waggoner Engineering, Inc. is seeking a Wastewater Maintenance Technician to join our team in Greenville, MS. Key Responsibilities

  • Report to the Maintenance Manager and perform maintenance activities in support of the wastewater treatment facility's reliability, safety, and regulatory compliance. 
  • Preventive Maintenance: Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on pumps, motors, blowers, valves, piping, chemical feed systems, electrical components, instrumentation, and other wastewater treatment equipment to maximize equipment reliability and minimize downtime. 
  • Corrective Maintenance & Repairs: Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical and electrical equipment failures. Complete repairs efficiently to restore equipment to service while minimizing disruption to plant operations. 
  • Equipment Inspections: Conduct routine inspections of treatment equipment, lift stations, and supporting infrastructure to identify wear, deterioration, leaks, vibration, or other conditions requiring maintenance. 
  • Work Order Management: Complete assigned maintenance work orders, document labor, materials, and equipment status, and communicate maintenance needs and repair priorities to the Maintenance Manager. 
  • Troubleshooting: Utilize mechanical and electrical troubleshooting techniques to identify root causes of equipment failures and recommend corrective actions to improve system reliability. 
  • Maintenance Planning: Assist the Maintenance Manager with planning, scheduling, and executing preventive and predictive maintenance activities, including equipment shutdowns and annual maintenance projects. 
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate maintenance records, inspection reports, equipment histories, and inventory usage in accordance with facility procedures and regulatory requirements. 
  • Safety & Compliance: Follow all safety policies, lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures, confined space requirements, and OSHA regulations while performing maintenance activities. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. 
  • Inventory & Parts Management: Assist with maintaining an inventory of spare parts, tools, and maintenance supplies. Notify the Maintenance Manager of inventory shortages and equipment requiring replacement. 
  • On-Call Support: Participate in an on-call rotation and respond to emergency equipment failures as needed. 

What you'll need

Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent required. 
  • Technical or vocational training in industrial maintenance, mechanical systems, electrical systems, wastewater technology, or a related field is preferred. 
Experience
  • Minimum of 2 years of industrial, municipal wastewater, water treatment, or related maintenance experience preferred.
  • Experience maintaining pumps, motors, blowers, valves, gearboxes, chemical feed equipment, and process equipment is preferred. 
Technical Skills
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with experience maintaining and repairing wastewater treatment equipment. 
  • Knowledge of preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance practices. 
  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. 
  • Experience using hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and maintenance software (CMMS preferred). 
  • Basic understanding of electrical controls, instrumentation, and process equipment is desirable. 
Communication & Professional Skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with the Maintenance Manager, operations staff, contractors, and vendors. 
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple maintenance tasks. 
  • Ability to accurately document completed work and maintenance activities. 
  • Commitment to safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
