The Package
Starting salary: £27,040 per annum
20 days annual leave (3 days to be used at Christmas) plus bank holidays
As a Material Technician Apprentice at EuroTest, you’ll be involved in different tasks as no two days are the same with us. You’ll be working in a laboratory but not as you know it! Be prepared to get mucky as you get to know your materials. This won’t be a sterile environment and requires someone who’s not afraid to get stuck in.
Once you have completed your training period, you’ll have the opportunity to carry out different types of tests on concrete, soils, and aggregates, both in the laboratory and on site. Alongside this, you’ll be involved in booking sampled and reporting results when required as well as, calibrating and maintaining the equipment allocated to you.
What could the future look like?
As a well-established and reputable company, Eurotest Ltd could offer to the successful candidate a steady progression to more senior role such as Senior Technician or the chance to move into a more quality system-based role both of which, would include good financial reward.
About You
You’re naturally curious about how materials behave and enjoy understanding why they perform the way they do. Whether you already have an interest in science and technology or are just starting out, you’ll be eager to build your knowledge and develop a long-term career in materials testing. Most importantly, you’ll bring the right attitude, aptitude and a genuine hunger to learn.
You’ll thrive in a structured environment and take pride in getting things right. From following standardised test methods and preparing samples to using laboratory equipment and accurately recording results, you’ll be patient, focused and attentive to detail. You’ll take safety and quality standards seriously, with good communication and IT skills and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Above all, you’ll be motivated to develop your skills and understand the science behind the work, including analysing results and understanding why materials pass or fail. You’ll be happy to get involved in the practical side of laboratory work, which may occasionally involve some heavy lifting, and excited by the opportunity to develop into a knowledgeable and trusted materials testing professional.
Please note, due to the nature of this position, you must be aged 18+, hold a clean driving license and access to your own car.
