Job Overview

Astrolab is The Lunar Operations Company. We design and build the systems and hardware the lunar economy will come to depend on — rovers, power, and data networks for sustained operations on the Moon. We are focused on the problems that must be solved before the next chapter of human exploration can scale. The Moon does not forgive untested assumptions. The people who work here know that, and they wouldn't have it any other way.

As our Senior Creative Designer, you are the creative engine of the Astrolab studio. This is a hands-on, execution-first role. You will be in the work every day: concepting, building, refining, and shipping across a remarkably broad range of creative disciplines.

At Astrolab, our design function operates within a studio model embedded inside the Marketing organization. We believe design sits at the intersection of engineering and brand; it is the visual language that translates our technical DNA into a consistent identity that defines a market.

You will work day-to-day with our Fractional Chief Creative Director and our Head of Marketing, and you will occasionally provide creative direction to external teams and vendors, from our new headquarters buildout to outside production partners. But your primary job is to create. We need your hands on the work.

What you'll do:

Creative Execution
  • Motion & Video: Concept, design, and produce motion graphics, animations, and video content for social media, investor communications, product launches, web, and internal storytelling
  • Brand Design: Build and extend the Astrolab visual identity system across all touchpoints — digital, print, environmental, and experiential
  • Visualization: Produce high-quality visual assets that communicate the scale, precision, and ambition of our hardware and mission to technical and non-technical audiences alike
  • Spatial & Environmental Design: Apply your architectural and spatial thinking to physical brand expressions, including facility design, event environments, and experiential installations
  • Sound & Multimedia: Bring a multi-sensory dimension to Astrolab's creative output, including audio branding, sound design, and multimedia storytelling where applicable
Creative Direction of External Teams
  • Vendor Input: Provide creative direction to external design teams, production partners, and contractors, ensuring that all output is aligned with the Astrolab brand and meets the standard of the studio
  • Environmental Projects: Lead the creative vision for physical spaces, including our new headquarters, translating brand identity into built environments in collaboration with architects and design teams
Studio Collaboration
  • Cross-Functional Partnership: Work closely with engineering, program management, and business development to understand the technical reality of our products and translate it into compelling creative
  • Asset Management: Build and maintain a library of brand assets, templates, and design systems that scale with the organization

What you'll bring:

Basic Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience developing, extending, and maintaining visual brand systems and guidelines
  • Experience using Adobe Creative Suite, including After Effects, Premiere, Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign
  • Experience creating motion graphics and video content from concept through final delivery
Preferred Qualifications
  • Portfolio containing professional design work in at least 3 of the following areas: motion graphics, branding, visualization, video, or spatial/environmental design
  • Experience producing creative work across multiple formats, including social media, brand guidelines, digital content, motion graphics, and environmental applications
  • Experience taking creative projects from concept through execution and final delivery
  • Bachelor's degree in architecture, design, fine arts, or a related field
  • Experience working in a studio environment or on projects involving brand, product, and physical environments
  • Experience providing creative direction and feedback to external agencies, vendors, or creative partners
  • Experience working in aerospace, advanced manufacturing, automotive, robotics, or technology-focused industries
  • Experience applying skills or knowledge from fine art, music, or other creative disciplines to design work
