Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET)

Job Overview

The SDET is responsible for embedding quality throughout the software development lifecycle by combining Automation, API validation, and AI-driven quality practices to ensure reliable and scalable solutions. Acting as a strategic partner to Product, Engineering, and DevOps teams, the role helps Veriforce deliver high-quality software that supports the company's commitment to safety, compliance, and customer success.

What that means day-to-day:

• Test Planning: Collaborate within a cross-functional scrum team to understand project requirements, define test strategies, and develop comprehensive test plans.
• Test Case Development: Design, document, and maintain detailed test cases and test scenarios to validate functionality, customizations, performance, security, and integrations.
• Automation Testing: Develop and maintain automated test scripts using industry-standard tools and frameworks to improve testing efficiency, coverage, and repeatability. AI agent assistance will be leveraged wherever possible.
• API & Data Validation: Design and execute tests to validate APIs, data flows, and system integrations, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and security of data across services and environments. Collaborate with developers to troubleshoot and resolve interface and data-related issues.
• Manual Testing: Perform thorough manual testing of applications, identifying and documenting defects, and working closely with developers to ensure timely resolution.
• CI/CD Integration: Integrate automated tests into the CI/CD pipeline to ensure rapid and reliable feedback on code quality. Work closely with DevOps and engineering teams to enable continuous testing and maintain test stability in dynamic deployment environments.
• AI/ML: Integrate AI/ML-driven approaches for intelligent test generation, dynamic test prioritization, anomaly detection, and predictive quality analytics to accelerate feedback loops and optimize test coverage
• Performance Testing: Evaluate the performance and scalability of applications, identify potential bottlenecks, and recommend optimizations to improve performance.
• User Acceptance Testing (UAT): Coordinate and conduct UAT sessions with business stakeholders to validate that the solutions meet their needs and expectations.
• Defect Management: Track, manage, and report defects using a defect tracking system (Jira), ensuring that all issues are addressed and resolved in a timely manner.
• Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with the latest best practices, and industry trends to continuously enhance testing processes and methodologies.

What you’ll need to be successful:

ESSENTIAL
 
• Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. 
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in software testing, with at least 3 years focused on Automation.
• Proficiency in automating applications, preferably with Playwright 
• Proficiency in integrating test automation into CI/CD processes
• Proficiency in leveraging AI agents to enhance software testing, quality engineering, and delivery workflows.
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities, with the capability to work effectively in a team environment
 
DESIRABLE

• Experience with AI/ML in the context of software quality engineering, including AI-driven test generation, model validation, dataset creation and evaluation, quality prediction, and assessment of AI-powered systems is highly desirable
