As a Welding Engineering Intern, you will work alongside our Welding, Manufacturing, Design, and Materials Engineering teams to develop, test, and improve welding processes used to build spacecraft and propulsion systems. You will gain hands-on experience supporting weld development, testing, and production in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
This internship is 12 weeks long and will run from May/June to August/September of 2027.
Responsibilities
- Support the development, testing, and optimization of welding processes and parameters.
- Assist with weld development activities across processes including laser beam welding, friction stir welding, gas tungsten arc welding, and orbital tube welding.
- Work closely with design, manufacturing, tooling, automation, and materials engineers to improve welded designs and manufacturing processes.
- Assist with preparing test hardware and documenting weld development results
- Help troubleshoot welding and manufacturing issues and identify root causes
- Work hands-on alongside welders and engineers in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Minimum Qualifications
- Completion or working towards a degree in engineering or related field
- Ability to take project ownership and work well in a small team
- Demonstrated hands-on experience with basic fabrication tools and processes (electric/pneumatic power tools, tube bending, machining, welding, etc.)
