What are we looking for?
We are seeking a Managing Director Côte d'Ivoire who will be responsible for formulating overall strategy, managing people, establishing policies, and taking full ownership of the country's P&L to drive profitable expansion of the business.
What do we expect from the candidate?
This role acts as a transformational leader, reinventing culture and processes as necessary to improve operations and overall execution. The Managing Director establishes and accomplishes business objectives, manages the country from a legal and organizational perspective, implements the global strategy defined by the group at the local level, and acts as a strong contributor to business growth.
The key responsibilities:
Business Strategy and Profitability.
Develop strategic plans by studying technological and financial opportunities, presenting assumptions, and recommending objectives to enhance competitive positioning.
Take ownership and responsibility for setting and attaining annual budgets and KPIs, holding full responsibility for the country P&L.
Identify areas of opportunity for short and long-term change to improve profitability and ensure optimal working capital management.
Act as a transformational leader to improve operations and overall execution, making mid-course corrections as needed.
Management and Leadership.
Provide leadership and direction to employees, earning their respect and driving high levels of engagement.
Recruit, select, orient, train, coach, and discipline managers, communicating values, strategies, and objectives.
Develop the country management team and fill gaps where necessary.
Hold individuals and teams accountable for performance while providing the means to achieve targets.
Operations and Compliance.
Coordinate efforts by establishing procurement, production, marketing, field, and technical services policies and practices.
Maintain quality service by establishing and enforcing organization processes and SHE standards.
Ensure systems and controls are in place to comply with internal and external policies and regulations (SHE, Data privacy, Travel, Expenses, etc.).
Manage and administrate the country from a legal and organizational perspective.
Stakeholder Collaboration and Corporate Image.
Build company image by collaborating with customers, government, community organizations, and employees, enforcing ethical business practices.
Build partnerships with players in the agricultural sector (NGOs, microfinance institutions, farmer cooperatives) to stimulate agricultural input usage.
Work closely with Group management to assess corporate strategy and operational improvement.
Work closely with the Finance Department to present accurate data and protect the P&L.
If you possess…
Must-Have
Executive/Advanced degree in business management or related field.
At least 5+ years of experience as a General Manager/Country Director of a business involved in B2B distribution of industrial or commodity-type products (chemicals, agricultural inputs, soft commodities, etc.).
Strong FMCG background and experience with high commercial sensitivity.
Experience working in Africa with a strong understanding of African business.
Demonstrated track record of driving topline and bottom-line growth as a business leader.
Fluent/Bilingual in French and English.
Ability to work under pressure and with short deadlines while maintaining strong attention to detail.
