About the Role:
We are offering a 13 month Year in Industry placement within our Technical team at our Croydon site.
This is a hands on laboratory role where you will work alongside Development Laboratory Technicians to support trials, testing and investigations that underpin the development and introduction of new raw materials, products and processes.
You will gain practical industrial experience in materials testing, polymer science and product development within a manufacturing environment.
Role Responsibilities:
With guidance from permanent staff, you will:
• Perform laboratory trials, tests and investigations to support new product and process development
• Prepare trial samples and test pieces for evaluation
• Operate laboratory and related production equipment safely and competently
• Accurately record, analyse and interpret test data
• Produce clear and timely reports on investigations and outcomes
• Read and interpret specifications and testing requirements
• Comply with health, safety and environmental procedures including COSHH and risk assessments
• Contribute positively to team meetings and cross functional projects
What you'll need:
• To be studying Materials Science, Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Chemical Science (or a closely related discipline)
• To be undertaking a university course that includes a Year in Industry placement
• A strong interest in polymer materials and laboratory based work
• Good numeracy, analytical and report writing skills
• Confidence using Microsoft Office applications
Experience of materials or polymer testing is desirable but not essential.
