Job Summary
The Intern role sits within the Trade Services Admin team which is part of a larger Trade Services function within COO - Operations. The function has an important role is supporting BACB’s Trade Finance business.
The Trade Services Intern will be responsible for recording new Trade transactions, filing necessary and important transactional paperwork, processing payment entries, managing mailbox flows, along with ad-hoc admin duties. The role holder will gain an appreciation of the full lifecycle of Trade products processed within operations for BACB customers. There is plenty of opportunity to learn key aspects of a UK Bank operating across Africa and Core International Markets.
In addition, there will be a full programme of BACB Intern activities complementing the daily role and responsibilities.
Key Work Outputs and Accountabilities
Primary Accountabilities:
· Ensuring all Trade related outgoing mail is accurately prepared and despatched on time, to agreed service levels.
· Scanning documentation and logging in BACB systems in a timely accurate manner and to agreed service levels.
· Logging new Letters of Credit and Amendments.
· Daily Nostro account reconciliation.
· Processing monthly amortised fees.
· Mailbox management for TS Admin Team.
· Receiving, recording, distributing incoming documentary presentations and booking courier collections.
· Ensures that customers receive an efficient and professional service within agreed turnaround times.
· Ensuring any issues are resolved efficiently and professionally whilst maintaining a high standard of customer service.
· Early opportunity to be involved in end-to-end lifecycle of BACB Trade products, and key function of the Bank.
Additional Responsibilities:
· Executes other ad hoc duties such as reporting, archiving, distribution and filing as and when required.
· Provide general administrative support to the relevant team lead.
Contribute to projects and initiatives as required.
Required Qualifications and Experience
· A keen interest in Operational teams, Global Trade, with openness to working within a niche small UK bank.
· A proactive and positive attitude grabbing opportunities to demonstrate learning and personal development.
· Strong organisational skills with sound attention to detail.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to work effectively within a team.
· Ability to manage multiple tasks and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, with tight deadlines.
· Good Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), and welcome experience of using other [ideally relevant] IT platforms and reporting toolsets, to help demonstrate technology knowledge and competence.
· No prior Banking experience required, but any evidence and experience of administration, customer service, process execution is beneficial.
· GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths (Grade C/4 or above)
