Role Description

We are looking for a Platform Engineer to build and scale an Internal Developer Platform (IDP) on Azure. This role focuses on enabling self-service infrastructure, golden paths, and platform-as-a-product thinking to improve developer experience and engineering velocity.

You will work on enterprise-scale Azure architecture, building reusable platform components, enforcing governance, and enabling teams through abstraction and automation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and manage Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) clusters including multi-tenancy, RBAC, and scalability

  • Build and evolve an Internal Developer Platform (IDP) with self-service capabilities and golden paths

  • Develop reusable infrastructure using Terraform/Bicep modules at scale

  • Implement Azure Landing Zones for enterprise-grade cloud architecture

  • Enforce governance using Azure Policy, Blueprints, and policy-as-code

  • Enable secure access using Managed Identities and Entra ID (Azure AD)

  • Design secure networking using Private Endpoints and Hub-Spoke architecture

  • Implement service mesh (Istio/Linkerd) for traffic management and observability

  • Build and maintain developer portals (Backstage / Azure Dev Center)

  • Drive FinOps practices including cost optimization, tagging, and guardrails

  • Enable hybrid/multi-cloud consistency using Azure Arc

  • Define and maintain platform SLAs, reliability, and performance standards

Required Skills / Experience

  • 6–12 years of experience in Platform Engineering / Cloud / DevOps

  • Strong expertise in Azure Cloud (enterprise-scale environments)

  • Hands-on experience with AKS (cluster design, RBAC, multi-tenancy)

  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or Bicep) at scale

  • Solid understanding of Azure Landing Zones and cloud governance

  • Experience implementing RBAC, IAM, and security best practices

  • Knowledge of networking concepts (VNet, Private Endpoints, Hub-Spoke)

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and GitOps practices

  • Strong understanding of developer experience (DevEx) and platform design

  • Experience with monitoring, observability, and reliability engineering

Good to Have

  • Experience with Backstage, Port, or developer portals

  • Exposure to Service Mesh (Istio, Linkerd)

  • Experience with Azure Arc or hybrid cloud environments

  • Knowledge of FinOps practices and cost governance

  • Experience building platform APIs or service catalogs

  • Strong understanding of platform-as-a-product mindset
