We're Hiring Nursery SENDCo
About the Role
Hopscotch Day Nurseries in Fareham settings are seeking a passionate and experienced SENDCo to champion inclusive practice and support children with additional needs across all age groups. This is a hands-on role combining direct child support, coaching, and strategic SEND leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Coach practitioners to deliver high-quality inclusive practice
Collaborate with families and external agencies to meet children’s needs
Lead and submit referrals and EHCP applications
Deliver targeted interventions (e.g., phonics, physical development, talk boost, school readiness)
Conduct audits and advise on SEN provision improvements
Support the creation and implementation of IPPs, PECS, Welcomm, and other tools
Guide room leaders and key persons through the OAP cycle
Ensure timely completion of EHCPs, SEN funding applications, and referrals
Qualifications & Training
Required:
Level 3 in Early Years and Childcare
Basic understanding of safeguarding
Strong communication, teamwork, and time management skills
Willingness to undertake Level 2/3 SENCO and behaviour management training
Strong IT skills
Desirable:
Specific SEN training
Knowledge of EYFS and OFSTED Inspection Framework (2021)
Experience within Hopscotch Day Nurseries
EAL training and First Aid Certificate

You’re someone with a natural affinity for children, a proactive mindset, and the ability to juggle a busy workload. You’re reliable, empathetic, and eager to grow your expertise in SEND.
Hours: 40 hours week (Room and office based)
Contract Length: Maternity Contract 12 months, This contract could be extended dependent on the needs of other nurseries within the Hopscotch group.
Salary Range :£29,952.00 (52 weeks a year)
